Wow, I thought I was the only one thinking about this. With work and my wife being pregnant (due in Aug) I been packing on some extra pounds. Snacking with her, I really want to start getting some cardio in, I have a good frame and my upper body has alot of definition. All the weight seems to be going straight to the gut. While I look perfectly normal with the clothes, I can feel the difference. Things I used to be able to do with no problem are all of a sudden an issue. My plan is to get some cardio in, and increase my physical activity. I have a hoop in my yard so I will try to get some bball in this spring summer. I also plan on buying a bike and riding outside. Funny thing is, I bought a gym setup with weights, elliptical, and bike. Even finished my basement fitness room for it. Problem is there is no entertainment down there, so i plan on putting a radio and a tv down there. It's easier to work out watching something on the tv or listening to tunes. Ever try to work out in silence. AHHHHH!!!

Any way glad to hear I'm not alone and I look forward to hearing everyone's success. Good luck.

I'm looking to loose about 10-15 lbs. Right now I'm about 5'9 175 to 180.

In college when i was in good shape I was around 160, so thats my goal.

Any way all this talk of exercise has got me motivated, so I will go outside for a walk with the wife. Good luck again!

Thanks Supreme. Whats the easiest way to get your body fat taken? I saw a few people post but I haven't seen a body fat meter (if thats what they call them) at my gym. I need to stop drinking or stop mixed drinks with with soda.

Most decent gyms will do a body fat measurement with calipers for $5. I'd recommend doing that, as they'll measure a variety of different locations (like bell and arms) to get a decent readout of your ody fat percentage. If you have the monetary means, the best way to get it taken is in a water facility. I believe most places that do this weigh you out of water, then weigh you in water as fat weighs nothing in water, due to it's buoyancy (I think). Tat's the most accurate way to go, but it's also the most expensive.

I personally would pay a professional to use the calipers (it's usually $5) and gun for significant improvement each month.

DJ comes through in the clutch again.

Ahh now I remember the thread. Thanks DJ.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

body fat count?
calipers?

not sure how intense you guys are tracking this stuff but if the objective is to lose weight and get in shape, then all those things are unnecessary. they just make you paranoid and obsessed.

eat right (you know what to eat) and exercise. everything else will take care of itself.

forget all that protein shake or pill stuff. do it the natural way.

at peak, i was 207. and peak loss, i was 175. since then, i've been in the 180-185 range. so luckily, i've been able to keep it off. i try to run on the treadmill a few times a week to maintain. and if at any point i slack for a few weeks, i get right back on it and hit the treadmill hard to lose those pounds. i'm inherently lazy so it's VERY tough to get motivated. but i try.

this is what happens when the knicks don't make the playoffs and the Alba thread is dead, dudes focus on their own bodies.

When the day comes we can post nipple shots that alba thread will rock supreme. Just give me the chance.

I'm vegetarian and I still rock a kangaroo pouch.

I must admitt I'm obsessed. To me its just fun obsession. I love working out with weights. Its the cardio that I can't find the time to do.

I must admitt the time I spend staring at the TV I could get my ass up and head to the gym, but the colors and the lights are so pretty.

Trust me... no it won't. You will at most get it done once a month, whereas plenty of people weigh themselves daily. I'd say having a professional inform you of your progress (or lack thereof) once a month is less obsessive than a daily weigh-in.

I like to go to those pretzel shops and order 4 cuz the 4th one is free and just eat them all myself. I also enjoy eating whole dominoes pizzas by myself. I also love beer and beer loves me.

I also have been known to eat whole pies from those monsters at the entemins(sp?). Mmmmmm pie.....

Duncan donuts are the devil too cuz those mofos are always open.

Meanwhile the healthy spots all close at 6-7pm.

I tell ya man it just aint right.

I need to get in shape. Started running with my 10 year old boy in the morning and...dang...I am an out of shape fat bastard. By asian standards I am a whale. 6'1" 250lbs. Sheesh.

I love my rice though and that is how I am gaining so much weight.

I'm in too.. I usually have about three or four cups of French Vanilla cappuccino(must have that sugar stick thingy) daily and I wonder why I'm getting fat. 210lbs here and I am all of 5'7". Will start by cutting my coffee consumption and jumping on my Bowflex threadclimber my wife bought for me(I wonder what is she trying to say?) daily for at least 45 minutes daily.

Nah man we can't go out like that.

Its may 1st. The shirts come off July 1st! Just in time for the fourth!

soda is a killer. I dropped that a loooong time ago, wish more people would.

What about energy drinks? One energy drink a day vs. a cup of coffee. Is the coffee better?
