Its not about getting athletic. "skill players" mean guys that can do everything on the court. The NBA is changing to where everyone has to be able to move the ball and handle a little. Also shoot it.

Isiah has talked about getting guys that can play more than one position. Yeah that's the NBA is going. The knicks lost all their skill players to injury and the had bums like frye, and Jared filling in. Balkman is good but he is still can't fill in for guys on offense yet.

Isiah still can get the knicks better via trades and the draft.

The knicks lack enough skill in the front court. What happens if Lee and frye are hurt at the same time? What happens if frye and curry go down at the same time? The knicks have 5 dudes in the backcourt that can be effective starters any given night. Knicks need that same luxury in the front court.

That big PG from GT has surprisingly come out. Looks like someone got in his ear. But if we are talking skills athletiscm length speed--he automatically shoots to the top of our list right on par with Almond.

Briggs, I don't expect Critteton to stay in the draft. I think he is testing it. I expect him to pull his name out. I think he and Hewitt are just trying to guage interest. Critteton has a very great chance of being a lotto pick if he stays at GT next year. If he stays in I would love to have him. Two guys I love in the draft with huge upsides is Young and Critteton. If both leave, then Isiah should look to bring in Paul Hewitt because he will be done at GT (too much).

He's first round lock. You take the money there--someone was in his ear--he probably got promised.

Does anyone believe that Splitter will stay in this year draft? If he is there he could be someone that should be considered with this late pick as well. His buyout is still crazy though.

Splitter has to stay in this year under league rules. That being said, I just have a feeling that he will be a bust. He is a solid defensive player, but there are few foreign players that have ever come into the NBA and been standout defenders (obviously there are some but only a few) and his offense has not really progressed even though he has been given chances to play significant minutes. I think he will be like a Darko. A decent defender with flashes of offense but no consistency.

From reports in Atlanta he isn't expected to stay in unless it is a lotto pick. He wanted to test his stock.

I used to be interested in Splitter but now I don't think he's what we need to be focusing on. Crittenton is a good young prospect, but i'd rather go for a SG like Almond. We need a guy who is a pure shooter with a killer mentality. An H2O type of SG with the kind of size and stroke that teams will truly fear. A guy like that will definitely keep his defender near him and away from Curry.

At some point you have to address defending the paint. Unless Curry is going to develop significant post defense presence over the summer, you will need to seek it elsewhere. Frye shot-blocking skills has regressed since he left college. Thomas will continue to have to play James for post defense. Williams is the player that can actually be paired with Curry that works. While I want Almond, if the Knicks can't acquire another pick then shot-blocking and post defense should be your priority because if it isn't then you will be in the same position next year just trying to add offense which wasn't a problem until guys started going down with injuries.

I don't disagree. I'd like to add Sean Williams and if Isiah could somehow make a trade for another pick i'd like him to use that on Williams. However, I don't want to miss out on a chance to get a big SG who can truly stroke it. I also think that it's possible that Morris may be a much tougher PF than Frye and he has some ability to block shots. He's not the freaky athlete that S. Williams is, but he's the more well rounded player. As this thread has discussed we need guys that have well rounded games. Morris may be just that kind of player. I see him as a much tougher inside player than Lee and Frye. He's got a much stronger base than both of them and that helps him to hold his position in the post. Frye is genetically much lighter in the shorts and I don't think he will be able to get to the point where he's really strong inside. I see Frye as a Robert Horry type of player, not very agile or strong inside, Frye has a stiff lower body like Horry. A guy who can stick the midrange and deep jumper and also post up from time to time. While I think Morris can be a more muscular inside player next to Curry. Morris is also more agile than Frye. At least that's the hope. In his limited time he wasn't getting pushed off the blocks so I can imagine that he'll get much better with more training.

IMO, Morris is an upgrade over Frye. He is a little soft but can get going if motivated. Going up against Noah always got his motor going. I think he is a center because he lacks lateral quickness to guard the 4s in the NBA. He has shot blocking abilities but he doesn't have the quickness like Williams or even Splitter for that matter. Post defense is needed.
