JVG quit on dolan, and his team quit on him before he departed.

JVG benefited when Ewing was into self preservation and when Ewing stabbed Nellie in the back.

JVG is the smartest one who actually walked away from this mess. That little dude gave it everything he had for the time he was put in charged.

How many coaches jump in to a fray with Alonzo? That little dude fried up and left when his tank was empty than mail it in. He kept it real 100% and ya'll bust his ass for quiting? Please, that team was going straight to the crapper and Dolan wanted his head long before he quit.

I hope the dude gets it all!

Yeah i've been pulling for JVG and TMac. I loved the heart the Knicks played with under JVG. His offensive skills aren't that great but he squeezes every ounce of D out his guys. I was hurt when he left but no way this situation was likely to get any better, so took the early exit while he still had his good rep.

it's funny to me how some can say that JVG quit on the knicks but perhaps I am not reading the full context.

If any of us feel uncomfortable at our current jobs and move to a new company should the ex-employees hate us and say we quit for no good reason?

That's true. But a head coach doesn't quit on a team in mid-season. You stick it out and then quit when the season's over.

why? It does give the organization a chance to see a top assistant run the show if that is their choice. Both parties aren't wasting their time just clocking in. Coaching search is well known waaaay ahead of time.

What good reason is their to stick around?

[ITs ok to fire a Coach midseason? JVG should have quit over the summer. In even said so, but he just could not mail it in so he did keep it real.

As far as I am concerned, if you can get fired mid season, you can quit!

This quitting thing is getting out of hand. This is business, not some unified jihad/crusade/war of survival where "sarge" ups and leaves his men high and dry. We talking about a coach who was burnt out and was unhappy with his teams construciton that no matter what he did the team could not win as frequently as was he was being pressured to do.

My guess he quit on Layden who was Dolans puppet.

Yea if you were the "ONLY" guy in charge of training us to achieve greater success in a specific system.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Vandummy was the chump who couldn't get along with a gm who helped him get talent to make it to the NBA FINALS(CAMBY-SPREE-CHILDS).

PATRICK EWING made vandummy his puppet, after pat helped him oust Nellie.

If Jeff would have never backdoored the head coach postion on the knicks, this team would be better off today.

Can't root for the guy who ran off the best GM we ever had...He didn't want to start Spree and play Camby...He hated the Camby for Oakley trade...Coincidentally, they are the reason he wasn't fired early in his career.. He didn't leave in the middle of the season, he left at the beginning of the season...Purely selfish move...I will root with my heart and soul against JVG...

honestly i don't like any of the van gundys. but I really like his team. they complement each other so well, and they seem to have real good chemistry. when they announced the Battier trade on draft night, I was like "Wow. that's going to be a much better trade than people think", and I turned out to be right.

As for Nellie in NY I am sure he and his son would have got rid of the type of players who didn't posses the ability to dribble and run the court. Inturn That would have eliminated alot of one dimensional players on the roster who couldn't contribute in other areas.

I'm not neccessary talking about nellie with a roster already in place like at GS, but the roster where they drafted developed and nutured in Dallas with his son being the chief scout for talent. And the trade to give up nash showed they new what they were doing as for Vision.

IMO Dolan would have spent the same amount of money that mark cuban spent with Nellie and his son to keep NY in the spotlight for yrs to come.
