I think the current situation has helped Dolan and Isiah to refrain from what they might ordinarily do. I think this is why they aren't likely to be very aggressive this summer. If a GREAT deal is put in front of them, then i'm sure they'll take it, but not if it's more vets and salary and with no promise of title contention. In that case why not wait and let this thing stew for a while. You can just see some of the young guys benefitting from more development time. If they don't then you haven't wasted money either, cuz these guys are all cheap right now and if they suck you can let them go.

First off, just want to say "what up" to everyone as this is my first post here....
Anyway, I like JO and I think he would add intensity, shot-blocking & overall defense to this team, but I don't think we should give up too many of our youngsters to obtain him. Frye, Morris, Nate + salary - I'd part with but Lee & Balkman should be last resort unless we're talking about KG instead of JO.

I'd rather trade for a younger big man. I would've given up BOTH Frye and Curry in a package for Amare before the season started and given PHX a deal it couldn't refuse. I'd build a package around Frye, Nate, and Francis at the least and take on an albatross ie:

New York Trade Breakdown
Outgoing

Steve Francis
6-3 PG from Maryland
11.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.9 apg in 28.1 minutes

Jared Jeffries
6-11 SF from Indiana
4.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 23.8 minutes

Channing Frye
6-11 PF from Arizona
9.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 0.9 apg in 26.4 minutes

Nate Robinson
5-9 PG from Washington
10.1 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 21.2 minutes

Incoming

Jermaine O'Neal
6-11 C from Eau Claire (HS)
19.4 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 2.4 apg in 35.7 minutes

Jeff Foster
6-11 C from Southwest Texas State
4.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 23.2 minutes
Change in team outlook: -11.2 ppg, +1.9 rpg, and -4.2 apg.

Foster is a good player. Nice guy to have on the bench with balkman, lee, and malik.
