How does any of that explain that after he came back early once, he was activated again and was noticeably limping and wincing in pain but was allowed to finish that game and then a part of another game before they finally realized that what they were doing was completely asinine.

Apparently you missed the part where I said that if it was up to me I would make Lee prove that he could play pain free before i'd let him get back on the court. The point of posting what the other doctors said was to prove that he did seek an independent medical opinion. That doctor said that once he came back he should be able to do his conditioning work and there was little chance he'd re-injure himself. It sounds like Lee was the one who wanted to play, still I wouldn't let him play unless he was relatively pain free.

I really don't care what you would do, I want to know why the Knicks doctors and management handled it they way that they did.

A second opinion is just that, a second opinion. That doctor had nothing to do with clearing Lee to play again when he obviously wasn't ready.

Isles I guess you missed Lee's admission that he wanted to play and told them that he didn't feel much pain.

Lee: I wanted to play
By MARC BERMAN

David Lee broke his silence at the morning shootaround and admitted he was ready to play Wednesday night vs. the Sixers when Isiah Thomas dealt him his season's first DNP.

Lee will dress tonight again vs. the Wolves, hoping Thomas uses him this time. After the Sixers' game, Thomas said Lee dressed as an "emergency'' body. The truth is Renaldo Balkman was going so good, Isiah probably didn't want to take a gamble with a rusty Lee.

Yesterday, Thomas admitted he was hesitant to play him because he hadn't had practice time. Lee had missed 17 of the last 18 games with a mysterious stress fracture in his leg.

Lee was upset after the game, whisking out of the Garden quickly, saying only, "There's a reason I wasn't in there (the locker room).''

Yesterday, Lee blew off reporters. Today his anger had apparently settled.

"I was ready to play but I didn't get any practice time in under my belt,'' Lee told The Post. "So it was good to get in a practice yesterday. So I understand why Isiah wanted me to get a practice in.''

"I definitely wanted to get in,'' Lee added. "At the same time, I understand it. Hopefully I'll get a chance to contribute tonight.''

"Hopefuly I'll get a chance to get in there and help our team,'' Lee said. "It's definitely not at full strength but I'm going to go out there and give it everything I got.''

I hope he just wants to contribute and he doesn't feel like he has to compete with Balkman for playing time which isn't a bad thing because it makes guys better.

Pharzeone, I guess you missed Lee wincing and limping in obvious pain but Isiah and his crack medical staff let him finish that game and play in the next one, all after obviously coming back too early just a few games earlier.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

I wonder if Lee felt compelled to come back (too) early after Steven A's implication that fans were giving him undue slack simply because he's white, or however he phrased it.

There we go. Lee's high-flying years are over. He's going to become a poor man's Kurt Thomas-type player since his athleticism is gone thanks to our terrible medical staff. Great job!!!
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

the team is supposed to support it's players and protect them. yet whenever there's an injury, there's nothing but confusion and the player is left to fend for themselves.

people were speculating he was soft.

then he finally played and it looked like he had a bullet in his leg and then not anything out of anybody.

and now balkman has 3-4 mysterious injuries.

does anybody have any clue what's going on with this team?

I think the knicks jumped on board the "Starbury Sneaker experience" and done messed up their wheels!

has any other team had this much injuries?

Over the years I don't know if any team has such a poor record of minor-injury turning into major-injury turning into career threatening injury.
