Of the three players, Bynum's the only one who has a chance of being a good two-way player.

Curry could be a dominating player in the NBA for years while Bynum and Frye cannot.

Why can't Bynum?

Bynum's 19; he truly is young. He's not a veteran like Curry. Curry's a scoring specialist, and a one-dimensional one at that. One dimensional players don't tend to win championships unless they have someone else carrying their team.

I am not a huge Curry fan but Bynum is not on the same potential level as Curry.
Curry's potential is to one day reach a level where he no longer hurts his team but rather has a neutral impact.

Isles this is for you, the same way that Balkman can't be better than Ty Thomas, Gay or Roy. Got it.

I realize that you're trying to turn it on me but it doesn't make any sense. First of all I never said that Balkman can't be better but in terms of a projection it's certainly much more likely that those players will be better than Balkman. All of them are high lottery picks and Balkman himself thought that he'd be going in the 2nd round.

Bynum was a lottery pick, has a young body that if developed can be physically dominating, has raw developing high level skills that he's just learning to use and already has a great feel for the game. Put that all together and I think it's very possible that he can develop into a dominating player.

So why don't you think that Bynum can become a dominating player?
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

A few things I don't get: People take the true premise that we don't *know* how players will turn out and conclude that no one can make reasonable projections. For example, we don't know how any of the players available at number 2 last year and available in the mid lottery this year will turn out. So we can't evaluate the trade until all players involved retire and we know for sure how their careers turned out. (I'm exaggerating with the word retire obviously.) We don't know how Brandon Roy and one of the studs we would have gotten this year (Oden, Hibbert, Durant) if we had let Marbury rest and heal will turn out. So we can't evaluate the trade somehow.

Another thing: People who support the trade reward Isiah for likely picking the wrong player (Ty Thomas) when Roy was available. The analysis of the trade should be based on who was available, not on who the GM would have taken. If Isiah takes Ty Thomas, then that becomes a separate issue (an analysis of the draft choice). You could justify any trade of a pick by saying the GM was going to use the pick on some bum who wouldn't have made it in the NBA.

Yes he is. He cant do things Eddy can athletically but he plays much longer --- when he gets his base strength and they work on his cardio/speed he's going to be rough to handle. He's had a couple of games this week where he went 7-7 from the field and 7-8 and throughout the year has multiple double doubles with high block games, assist games--things eddy never has. Remember this is a kid who didnt play 30 high school games in total--barely saw court action this year and now has had to play in every game--forced into the starter role at times.
