been championing ronny for a week now.

as for guards KG might not be viable but would Minny do a Frye for McCants and a first type deal?
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

We're going to get our shooters back and likely draft one.

Lets say for instance
we have
Q-Rich
Jamal
Morris Almond
Nate
Marbury
and perhaps a player who takes the vet minimum like salim stoudemire or a vet PG--that will be more than enough shooters

What we didnt have at all this year is a guy who can be distruptive defensively and tough in the paint. Someone who can play at both ends of the floor who can take some pressure off of Eddy. David Lee is perfect for a combo 4-5 for 30+ minutes off the bench--but to start games off--we need a 4 who can play next to Eddy and give DEFENSIVE energy and EFFECIENCY at both ends of the court. They kind of tried it with James but then you have two slow players in transition. With either Turiaf[first choice by age] or Mcdyess--even if they play 20-25 minutes--they are going to give us the balance we need upfront. How many games were we DOWN quick this year??? probably 55 out of 74? We came back in many games + 6-2 in OT. We need that ENERGY to start games and we need that interior presence to help eddy. It's easy to see---Frye doesnt give it and jefferies really is not a 4 and is a total liability on the o--his +- will always be bad.

Small investment
3 years 15mm and a 4th year team option for either--that is small change for what we usually do.

I think if we spend the BIG money on a shooter will have a cluster fck. Turiaf or lesser Mcdyess HELPS balance and chemistry.

You have to come with a realization of our needs--the only reason why we are screaming outside shooting is because guys are hurt. We hgave a draft pick and I think if we ADD Morris and our pick we can MOVE up enough to grab Almond and add a mid 2 from someone.

Matt Carroll or Kapono are not going to be knicks. I don't care what anybody thinks about those backups, we already have 3 smallforwards 2 shooting guards and 2 pointguards. There ain't no room to be adding backups. Marbury needs a lot of things, what he needs most is a guy who can play the point, which is why we will probably be looking for a Point Forward some where and dump Qgarabge and make Jared a defensive backup at the 2-4.

But since everybody thinks Frye is going to be gone, Cato is going to be gone, JJ is a bum and Morris is a rookie, a guy like Turiaf will probably be very need.

I agree with everything you said.

Marbs, craw, Nate and Collins are a solid backcourt.

Curry is gonna be the center.

The glaring need is the 4 and 3. Frye is a puss. Knicks need more guys like lee and balkman. Adding turiaf would be adding the type of player that fits in the trenches with what works for this team.

Even if it isn't turiaf, a guy like etan Thomas would be a good pick up if that's possible.

You know, that's why isiah tried starting big game. The knicks need a guy like big game minus the lazy, fatty ways. The knicks need a guy to be the muscle. That is a glaring need. Having that type of guy in the mix with lee, balkman and Jared would be ideal.

The small fwd spot is the next major piece needed. Knicks essentially need another Q. A guy that can rebound, start the break, drive, shoot, score inside, play defense.

A guy that the knicks had that actually was playing out of his mind before that golden state/indiana trade was Matt Barnes. If you don't remember him doing much this year check his stats early on this year. He had a few 30pt games, some big 3pt games, big defensive game, etc. He was looking like a stud.

But turiaf and Barnes don't sound like sexy enough names to satisfy some.

I like Turiaf a lot and wouldn't be at all pissed off if we acquired him (I watched him a lot in college & was in favor of drafting him ahead of Lee) but remember this whole PF situation looks really bad with Lee out. If Lee's here, playing big minutes (35+) next to Curry, regardless if he's starting or not, this frontcourt situation would look a hell of a lot brighter. Lee together with Q playing the minutes we need from them, let's face it, we're probably in the playoffs.

Turiaf would be a good free-agent pick up at reasonable money like Briggs suggests but I'm firmly with the guys who want to acquire high % shooters and a TOP-NOTCH shotblocker. And since we've got burned in the free-agent market before too many times now, I just want to acquire talent in the draft and grow my own players. Morris Almond is my #1 guy. Then I use Frye, Nate, Randolph and even Mardy Collins if I had to to acquire another first rounder and then take a chance on Sean Williams.

good post, Briggs. this is why I wanted to draft Josh Boone so badly. though Boone has somewhat disappointed as a defensive intimidator, I do think we need that at the four. And as much as I love DLee, he isn't the type of defensive guy we need. We need someone who will move bodies out of the way in the paint and block shots.

Look @ Mcdyess tonight--they guy was a dominator--perfect next to Curry. I mean he is also a player option and money is money and he liked NY. He's only 32 and hes been very reliable since he came back. Put Curry and Mcd
yess together with Lee taking 6th man and 30 minutes.or

With our luck, we'd sign McDyess, and he's break another kneecap in training camp.
