Buy out Francis.

Trade Frye and Nate for the Rights to Jeff Green-YES overpay for him because he IS the type of player we need and we have the option of being able to do it.(We Already have Brewer on this team. His name is Balkman-and he can guard 4 postions-even 5. Brewer may be able to guard 3 at most. Seriously-how is Brewer different/better than him?) and maybe a future 2nd rounder.

Use our pick on Aaron Afflalo.

Try to trade Jefferies, Jerome.

Curry
Lee
Green
Afflalo
Marbury

Crawford, Quentin, Rose, Morris off the bench.

Buyout Francis.

Brewer has a jump shot, Balkman does not

I still think both are too similiar to have on a roster full of redundant players.

Brewer
NBA Comparison: Stacey Augmon
Strengths: The premiere perimeter defender in college, capable of being a lock down defender on the next level … Physically he has everything you need to stand out defensively: long arms, footwork, quickness, anticipation, long arms and height plus a willingness to exert as much effort on defense as on offense … Tough minded player with a strong work ethic … Not a bad passer for his size who unselfishly looks for open teammates … Decent rebounder who uses his leaping ability and long arms to make an impact on the glass … When driving to the basket, he converts difficult baskets due to his body control and leaping ability … Is a solid three point shooter when his feet are set … Excellent finisher in transition where his athleticism allows him to finish with ease … Approaches the game with a blue collar attitude and does all the dirty work with a smile on his face … Shows above average post up skills for a SF … When everything is clicking, he can put up points in a hurry … Moves well without the ball and has become efficient running off of screens ...

Weakness: Offensively he still doesn’t seem to have a great grasp of the game … Not really able to score at will, or create offense for himself or others the way you would expect someone with his physical abilities … Ball handling must continue to improve as he’s clearly not comfortable with the ball in his hands … From a fundamental standpoint he doesn’t do a good job of keeping his dribble low and away from his defender … Right now his body should be a priority for him to work on … Currently he lacks upper body strength and needs to bulk up on his slight 185 pound frame … Offensively Brewer does a lot of things well but nothing spectacular. While he has range, he lacks consistency … Has slashing ability but too often settles for shooting the jumper … Is prone to making mental mistakes in games during critical moments … …

Notes: Early in this his junior season, Brewer tested positive for Mononucleosis which caused him to miss a few weeks and could further affect him this season.

Balkman:
Strengths: Long, wiry athletic forward with great energy level ... Excellent rebounder who hits the glass hard ... His bread and butter will be defensively. Good feet, extremely long arms, quick hands. Effective thief, and has good timing for blocked shots off the ball and on smaller perimeter players … Has the versatility to guard on the perimeter and in the post: His great foot speed gives him the quickness to defend quick forwards and guards, and his wiry strength and long arms give him the ability to defend inside ... Very quick hands and feet help on both ends of the floor ... Broad shoulders and long arms give him an ideal basketball physique ... Shows great body control around the basket and the ability to absorb contact and stay balanced ... Best off the ball, screens, occasional drives when they're open, and attacking the offensive glass ... Has a unique personality ala Dennis Rodman. A free spirit with a "carefree" attitude. which can be a positive and a negative ...

Weaknesses: His biggest problem is inconsistency. There were games when he'd take over and then the next game he was no where to be found (which was HUGE in his games against Bama and then Kentucky) ... Balkman isn't a scorer, his handle is horrible. Raw offensive player, averaged under 10 ppg in his junior season ... Lacks any real range on his shot ... Very sloppy. Shot is inconsistent, he can hit from 20, but not at a good %. Needs to add around 15-20 pounds of muscle to go inside and rebound with the same effectiveness ... Turnover prone, needs to become better at protecting the ball off the dribble, and cut down on turnovers ... Shot just over 50% from the free throw line ... Has a good shooting form, he just needs repetition in practice and better focus to improve upon his free throw shooting ...

Balkman can shoot but is not consistent enough. He shot the ball in college. I watch him shoot the ball in the NIT last year. Brewer is a better shooter of course but don't confuse the fact that Balkman doesn't shoot the ball as to that he can't. Charles Oakley played as a Knick for 6 seasons before he was told to take the open jumper. Teams in general have some input into what players are allow to do. Look at Ewing in college versus his NBA career.

Move Marbury to SG.

Bring in real point.

Bring in shooter.

Real Pf.

Ahhh, so many needs.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I've seen Brewer a lot and he's got all-star potential. Even at a glance, Brewer is more athletic, taller, longer than Balkman. Defensively, his upside is Tayshaun Prince - I think his lateral quickness is even better than Tayshaun. Its not an exaggeration to say he can be the best 2,3 defender in the NBA.

Brewer's shooting isn't great yet, but its improving. Looking at the mechanics of Brewer's shot - he's got good elevation, high release point, good rotation, and good follow through. He can shoot off the curl. Its easy to see him improve it significantly - eventually shooting 35% from 3 in the NBA.

Brewer's ball handling needs to get better, but his first-step is excellent. Both his crossover and the way he explodes of the pick and roll have similarities to Mcgrady. His court vision is above average - he can make slick passes on the move as well as find back door cutters from the top of the key. He's got the tools to be a force on both ends. I would trade Frye and the Chicago pick for him.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

we need to try and get one of the 3

Rashad lewis- find away to off Q, nate , and fry
Troy murphy - who would be a perfect fit next to curry with his rebounding and perimeter touch.
ray allen- all he has to do is shoot threes, his work load would be so much lighter in NY with a EC, SM and JC..

Do you guys think that the #23 pick(as it is now) and Channing Frye would be attractive enough to eiher move up in the draft and land a stud shooting shooting guard? Or a SG thats already in the league?

Ray Allen would be a nice pick up- if its cheap.

He solves the problem with our lack of an outside threat- he puts Crawford back to the bench as combo guard.

I think our biggest need isn't shot blocking- its a lack of threat from perimeter. Curry is effective drawing defenses in- man to man, he's proven effective. Assuming he could make the pass out of double teams without turning the ball over, legit shooter like a Ray Allen would feast all game long.

Lee in a deal for Garnett...I am convinced Balkman is better than Lee.
