This is not a bashing Dwight Howard thread--I would trade the entire Knick team for him----it's just that he has very little skill and does it all with his physical specimen--thats the only point here. Im sure his skills will mature?

Briggs could you compare Howard's skills to that of Oden. I am curious because I think but players are more in the mole of Deke than other big men mentioned. Not a bad thing but not in the class of Ewing and Robinson IMO.

And just to follow up could you also compare Durant's freshman year to that of Tim Thomas year at Nova.

Agree Briggs, which is why I think Dwight tends to be overrated. People talk about this guy like he's the next coming of Hakeem. Not even close. He is basically like a muscular Camby-- which is a great player to have, but not superstar, top tier material.

I agree with Tom and Briggs. Dwight does lack a lot of skills. He's not a great man defender or offensive threat. However, you hit the nail on the head Tom, by saying he's a muscular Camby. Not a superstar, although if you could have a Marcus Camby player who never got injured, he'd be a perennial all star.

I Have to agree with that, even though I am a huge howard fan. I think amare is a notch above, actually before the knee injury I think amare was close to entering the realm of the Tim Duncans of the NBA... Amare is that good, he completely understands the game, he doesn't back down and he has a nice skill set...

If Dwight has very little skills
then Eddy Curry has No skills at all or skills of a big man in prehistoric times.

Understood that Howard needs to refine and grow other parts of his game. At least Dwight has a big
upside and several things he does well in NBA at such a young age.

Curry has nothing he does great, he is on a downside of his young career. Can't elevate his game
any more and has the lowest impact to his teams success. Curry trade is a disaster and Dwight is at
least going places
