Please don't tell me about the just let everything expire and tank every season in hopes of getting that oh so special draft pick. I would hate to see the message board if this were the case. Besides which, does that method really even work? We haven't seen a team build from scratch to a title in who knows when. I'll remind the guys around here that we have FIVE, 1st rd picks on this team in just a 2 year period. PLUS Curry, which is like adding another one. We do have a stud and his name is Stephon. SOme of you just choose not to look at him that way, but he's an All Star caliber player when the coach isn't named LB. Just look at how he's been playing and you can tell that he can kick it up a few notches when we need the help. When he get's some help from the rest of the team we have a great shot to win any game. I've got news for you guys too, Steph isn't even close to being done either. He's been able to defend just about every guard including super quick guys like TJ Ford. He's still blowing by guys like that too. He's gonna gradually slow down, but i'm willing to say that barring a major injury he should be able to play at a high level for 2-3 more years easily. Especially if we get some help and can cut back his minutes. More blowout wins like yesterday would help.
The key will be what Isiah does to fix this roster and give this team what it needs. If you've got Steph, Curry, Lee and a supporting cast of Frye, Balkman, Jamal, Jared etc. You should be able to add just enough to push this team over the top and into the Elite in the East.
You're joking, right?
If not, then perhaps a clarification is necessary:
I can't speak for others, but personally, when I say we need a "stud" if we are ever going to seriously challenge for a title, I mean someone who is a top five or 10 player, an all-time great. Think of the players who have led their teams to titles in the past 20-30 years: Magic, Bird, Isiah, Jordan, Hakeem, Duncan. They are studs. Stephon is not.
