In terms of right now, with two rotation players out for an extended period and with Q in and out of the lineup we're in worse shape than most teams we have to play against.

on top of it--we traded for a couple of players we already knew had big time problems
q--back
curry-possible heart

you cant use excuse like that--you bought the players as damaged goods.

Teams that were decimated by injuries include the Celts and the Nets. I would certainly say that their injuries affected their course. The NEts were projected by some to win the East. They are scrapping along with us for a playoff spot. The Celts were awful this season and with a roster that includes PP, Al Jeff and a bunch of really promising guys. If you compare the Knicks to Elite teams like the SUns or even the Heat, I have to wonder whether you are just selectively presenting stuff to once again dump on this team.

I wasn't, my main comparison was to the Nets, others brought up Miami and PHX and I either countered or expounded on those examples. I already elaborated in another thread that this team's injuries have been no more significant and to a large degree lesser than other teams. Counter all of these examples.......

New Jersey- Lost Kristic for the yr and Jefferson almost 2mos

NOK-Just got Peja back after being gone for 3mos, lost David West for 2mos, Chris Paul for 1month

Chicago-Lost Nocioni for the rest of the season as of 2-3weeks ago

Lakers-Lamar Odom has missed over 1month over the season just came back last night, Luke Walton has missed about 2mos just came back last night, Chris Mihm for the whole yr, and Kwame Brown for half the season

Miami-Missed Shaq for over 2mos will miss Wade about as long

Boston-Missed Pierce for 2mos, Wally Zerbiak throughout the season and is currently done for the season as of 2weeks ago

Seattle-Missed Rashard Lewis for over a month Ray Allen almost a month

ATL-Missed Josh Childress and Marvin Williams over a month, Speedy Claxton 2mos, Joe Johnson and Josh Smith almost 10gms a piece

Houston- Missed Yao Ming over 2mos, Bonzi Wells 3mos, Tracy McGrady for about 10gms

Milwaukee-Bobby Simmons all yr, Redd for almost 2mos, Villenueva almost 2mos, Mo Williams for about 10gms

Clippers-Sam Cassell for a month, Shaun Livingston for the rest of the yr as of 2weeks ago, Kaman almost 10gms

I left off teams Like Memphis, Denver, and Golden State

Heres the problem guys. We shouldn't be building around the guys we're building around.

If losing Quentin Richardson or Jamal Crawford for an extended period of time sinks your team, then what does that really say about your team?

Who said we're building around them? We're building WITH them right now, but they can be changed out. There's no guarantee that we stick with any one of those guys. Teams make trades of guys like them all the time. Curry and Lee is the most important core of the team going into the future. I have hope that Frye will still develop into a dependable player for this team, so i'd still include him as a core member, but we'll have to see about that. You can change players around the core, but what they do is hard to replace. Steph is a core member but only for the next few seasons. So basically you have Steph, Curry and Lee and we hope that the other players can play their roles and make this a well functioning team.

The thing is that if you have a team like the Spurs or Detroit etc. they have superior talent and should be able to survive injuries better than teams in the Knicks range. I think the Knicks have played a bit over their heads during the suspensions and with the injuries of Lee and Jamal. I hope they can continue to play hard and hopefully EXECUTE better. For lesser teams it's often about how well they execute. That's certainly the case for the Knicks. If we can cut down on the TO's and finally start to get the Ball to Curry, then we have a much greater chance to win games.

No excuses--stop complaining. We've been very fortuante to be 6-1 in OT with a few other wins in regulation by the skin of our pants. certainly we have showed resolve.

I'll also leave it like this--aamare stoudemire from 2 years ago[and he sbetter than any knick now even with his injury] was worth more than the whole team put together. He was out the whole season--Phoenix had other injuries had many young new players and still won 60 games. Case closed.

Of course injuries can effect the w-l record but we dont have a David Robinsonm type player where it wouldnt truly put us out of whack we had a 130 mm $ payroll steve francis was a back up jalen rose was a back up[knicks decid to cut him?] injuries so what.

BI get the overall point, but think you could've come up with a better example. Using PHX as your example with Amare? They had this guy who won MVP that year. They also had Joe Johnson who is now, and deserved then, to be an All-Star. To say nothing of their glue guy, Shawn Marion. How can you bring up a juggernaut like the SUNS to make your point?

this is the point i was making in my earlier post. Compare mediorcre teams with mediocre teams. Call a spade a spade, Compare ny to orl, boston, atl, etc. not to detroit, phx, miami. honestly i don't understand, tell me how the spurs would do without Duncan. It's the suns style of play that get them where they are, and oh yeah nash isnt to bad either.

I never once in my post said we were building around Crawford and Q. The point of my post is that if we lose Crawford and Q for any extended period and the team has trouble winning games then what does that really say about the guys we ARE building around AKA, Curry, Marbury. Curry looks absolutely lost right now and thats a TELLING sign. If this guy can only score his points because Jamal Crawford is the only guard on our team that can make an entry pass to him right where he likes it, then we got a serious problem on our hands.

Marbury doesn't look lost. He looks like a PG with 2 to 3 awful offensive players on the floor with him. Curry looks lost, though.

Did I mention yet that this team lost its chances of making the playoffs when Lee got injured?

DUDE you implied that we're building around those guys, by saying that we shouldn't be building around them. If it wasn't an issue then why make that statement? I'll address your new point, by saying that losing your 2nd leading scorer and assistman along with a guy who has been shooting consistently from 3 and also rebounding well for the team, is a big deal. It's not like these guys were just role players who had little impact on the games. They're integral parts of our attack. You can see that at the end of the game not having Jamal is noticeable. Then there's the issue of Lee not being there and he's HUGE!!!! So to me our injuries are a serious factor. Can we win without those guys, of course. But the margin for error is a lot slimmer. Thus it's hard on the team minus those guys. It does make a big difference.

Unfortunately I dont see no big difference here with NY injuries as opposed to when NY was most healthy with a full team. We had more mediorce record with full squad than 1/2 squad. Guys are
playing and all NBA teams has depth.

Injuries are part of sports and its not to be an excuse for our mediocre Knick play regardless of
whom shows up healthy to play. For years we looked for alot of excuses from Salaray cap to team
chemistry woes and now injuries. We got a long way to go to be considered any good to compete with
top 15 teams and that is a fact.
