Welcome aboard, Cash. Upon first impressions you come across as a fan who isn't completely obsessed with loathing everything about Isiah's Knicks, aka can see that there are some positives about the team and its potential but can also observe flaws without resorting to insults. You are a more than welcome poster from my perspective.
I can't say that I agree with you about Curry's game. I see plenty of room for improvement, but I believe there is sufficient reason to suggest that he has made real progress this year. Yesterday, when Breen and Frazier expressed concern about his being used to playing with Crawford and the alley-oops that have gotten Eddy going before, I think that this was a fair criticism, but maybe an experience that Curry has to have.
There is a post here with some here going crazy about Francis and Curry arguing earlier in yesterday's Toronto game, but maybe it's not such a bad thing. First of all, Curry is the main scorer on the team, and has been carrying us all season. Francis, for all of his record as a NBA scorer, has not been the main guy this year. Add to that the fact that Eddy was in good position to score, and Francis was dribbling too much. This is a learning experience for both, on working together as teammates, rather than a major reason to go crazy and panic as a fan. If this happens A LOT without adjustment, then sure it's reason to be very concerned, but you have to have a reasonable level of patience considering the circumstances.
For Eddy to learn to stand up for himself as the main guy to Francis is not wrong based on what he's done this year is VERY FAR GONE from the Curry we knew last year. However, maybe it is a way for Eddy -- hopefully with good coaching from Isiah, who I believe has earned Curry's respect -- that he sees some of the things he may need to do to ensure the highest level of respect from his teammates. Now, he might need to be careful about getting too big for his britches too fast, but at the same time this is a learning process for him, I'm sure, and I suspect his teammates.
He's now having to learn how to deal with being doubled as soon as his teammates start to pass the ball to him or he gets it. Part of that falls on the guards, and it has been Crawford who was best at it most of the year, so Marbury -- who has shown a lot of willingness to work with Isiah -- and Francis may need to adjust some more. That's just part of playing a team game. I also would like to see Eddy establish post position closer to the basket, which is what I noticed was not happening in the Raptor's game yesterday, as well as consistency both defensively and on the boards. I think a fair person can observe that he can be strong on the boards and defense at times, but like most NBA players he lacks consistency. I see growth in this area already compared to last season, and I think that because of the coaching from Isiah and his staff, as well as Eddy's apparent growing confidence in himself, that these can still improve.
Maybe they won't all get to the point of some fans' satisfaction, but I think that he is a very welcome addition to our team, and am looking forward to seeing what occurs through the rest of his career as a Knick.
