JJ2 is a complete waste... he has a game here & there where he's active on the boards, but the guy can't make a shot, he's a very overrated defender, & he's a turnover waiting to happen... i cringe when he gets the ball in his hands too.

i dunno, i'm definitely coming around on JJ2

i thought he played excellent first half defense on bosh- who had 4 points at the break. JJ created or contributed to multiple steals i don't think he got credit for. he ran bosh down the court on O and kept him from making any help defense plays. second half was weird, especially the few minutes where he guarded TJ ford with not particularly good results.

i'd love to see more balkman, but i think JJ2 get a raw deal from people on this site for his slow start and lack of *statistical* production. he's an interesting player to keep an eye on in games.

i don't see it dude... i often see him confused on rotations, he runs out to the perimeter to guard the 3 instead of guarding the lane against penetrators when the perimeter D breaks down... there were at least 2 times last night where i saw him do this... also, if you recall in that SEA game when Rashard Lewis hit that wide open 3, that was supposed to be JJ2's man, but instead of guarding him on the wing, JJ ran straight down the middle of the court after Ray Allen who had the ball even though he was trailing the play... he completely lost track of where Rashard was on the floor... i don't see where he ever got that reputation about being a good defender.

forget playoffs for a second...it's clear as day that there's only one guard on the team that can get the ball to eddy and that's jamal.

that's why i want to see Jamal as our starting PG... i don't mind playing Marbury at the SG as long as he's making his shots, but Jamal plays more under control when he's asked to orchestrate.
we don't have a starting pf, unless you want to put lee there...which next to curry, probably won't work long term.

i kinda disagree... i think D Lee plays well alongside Curry... he along w/Jamal are the only guys who consistently look to get him the ball down low.

those 3 provide very little in the ways of defense. if lee + curry are your starting frontcourt, which big man are they containing? which guards are they turning away from the paint? which shots are they altering?

that's why i say we need a shotblocking dawg to put up front... i wouldn't even mind playing D Lee at the SF if we could get a shotblocking PF who could defend the paint... otherwise, if we could somehow swindle a Josh Smith type SF who is a shotblocking stud at the SF spot, that would work too... Balkman is good off the bench & i don't see him starting games until he can develop that midrange jumper.

i think not having lee is making a major difference, and having francis waste time with the ball are other big factors

i'm not saying he doesn't make mistakes- but rotations and help defense are at least equally reflective on our coaching and the rest of the team. i'm not totally sure what you're getting at with the bold part- we were getting killed by the 3 all game, are you blaming him for not covering for our guards getting toasted? if anything, i think JJ has hurt us on occasion by helping on penetrators and leaving guys like rashard open- as a player when i guard a shooter i stay in his damn shorts the whole time.

you don't see the positives? he absolutely locked down bosh for the first half last night- do you at least agree on that? he was involved in a number of loose balls that we stole. but then again he gives up the late tip-in to CB4... i'll try to have another look at that play and the rashard lewis 3 from before if i get a chance. also, i do think he's fitting in a lot better on O- making some cuts, keeping his distance from curry, crashing the boards (at least keeping their defensive rebounders honest). i've been paying a lot more attention to JJ2 and liking more of what i'm seeing. IT definitely overhyped him, but i think he'll be a solid 20mpg contributor while he's here, doing things not enough guys on our team do.

i can't say he locked down Bosh more than his shot just wasn't falling early... Bosh got into a groove later in the game... it was Thomas, Bargnani & Garbajosa's 3's that were killing us last night, that's true, but Jefferies was also allowing easy penetration to TJ Ford into the lane when he failed to rotate over on help D while Curry was out of the lane "attempting" to guard the bigmen... Jefferies is billed as a good defender, so i can't give him a pass on failing to rotate over on help D... he brings nothing else to the table if he's not playing D or making hustle plays, & i've noticed that watching him, he makes just as many bone headed plays as he does positive plays, so really he's not much of a factor out on the floor that helps us win games on a consistent basis... i'd much much rather see Balkman getting his minutes, & Malik Rose getting a few more off the bench, than having Jefferies on the floor to be honest.

reason why we suck! #1 team in turnovers and worse team in perimeter defense.

If Curry is suppose to be your go to guy, I don't care if Joe Smo is your pg, give the big man the ball!!!!

Also, Curry needs to take charge and demand the Goddamn ball..

he's been demanding the ball, but the G's haven't been able to get it to him or they've been looking him off & settling for perimeter shots instead... fir his part, Curry needs to get better at fighting for position w/o drawing an Offensive foul... guys flopping left & right when they're guarding him doesn't help matters... the G's have to seriously stop freelancing so much & get back to pounding the ball inside.
