The NBA should count assists like Hockey does.

You mean where there can be two assists on a single play?

Curry might even get one.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

because we're a post up team now and teams with guys who get the ball on the post on most possessions don't usually have one guy with a lot of assists. see any team Shaq, Ewing, Duncan, etc ever played with - usually their leader is at about 6apg.

What about Stockton and Malone?

you are aware what posting up means, right? and how that's different from a pick and roll?

yea i think assists should be counted differently too. if i create a shot for Curry and hand it off to him, as soon as he puts the ball down it erases the assist I get when he scores, even though I created the shot. that's part of the reason marbury's assists are down I think, although he's never been a spectacular one-pass-score passer, he's not going to drag 4 defenders out of the paint and throw a left handed precision pass to lead his teammate into perfect scoring position a la nash. but it's usually good enough to warrant an assist

He'd still have to pass out of the post to get an assist. Since he's never done that, I doubt it. Once the ball hits Curry's hands, he's either taking a shot, getting blocked, getting stripped, getting fouled or giving an offensive foul. He's not passed out of the post the entire season.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

not necessarily... he can take a dribble on his way to making the bucket as long as it's made in the flow of making the shot... for example, Marbury finds D Lee slashing towards the lane - D Lee catches, takes a dribble & then dunks it or makes a hook shot without stopping to set himself again or back his man down to get better position... as long as the assist led directly to a made shot & D Lee didn't create the shot himself by backing down his man in the low post or on an iso play, then it counts as an assist.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
