Besides solace, if you are the general manager of any franchise, do you really want to base your entire salary strategy, and need to compete for the playoffs, on the prayer that Lebron will be available three years?

The logo did with Shaq.

Thank you!

If I were GM, my strategy would be get under cap/assemble the role players that would make NY potentially attractive for a LeBron and have the parts that if its a S&T with Cleveland, gives them something to be happy about, but leaves me with enough guns to compete with LeBron. Orlando did a S&T with Grant Hill, and if he hadn't toughed it out in the play off series with a broken ankle, Orlando might have had a good deal. Detroit got nice parts that helped as well.

In three years, LeBron might be thinking he'd love to have Curry, Frye & Lee instead of Z, Gooden & Hughes. Even if its a strait signing, he might see upside in moving to NYC vs. Cleveland.

Why not just sign one-year minimum players for our role players off the bench and stop adding unnecessary salary so we have a chance? Pay the stars, not the marginals. Do you really prefer an MLE Jared Jeffries and Jerome James to say, a minimum player like Mikki Moore?

ainge, billy knight and mchale are worse to name a few.... plus i don't think you should include the francis trade since no one will ever be in agreement as to who really wanted it.

Why should we not include it then? Most people agree that Isiah, at least, deserved some of the blame for okaying it.

I am not saying IT did anything good. In fact he made the worst possible moves.
But no good GM will work for this organization. And they don't want any intelegent guy out there.
Why you want to make you stuppidity shine by comparison?

It ain't my money, so I don't care. I was hoping for a $1,000,000,000 payroll.

I could definitely see Lebron in NY...right across the Brooklyn bridge playing for JAy Z and Nets. Lebron is already under the Roc a fella umbrella.

Yeah, Francis, Jerome and Jared and even Malik have killed us. If it weren't for them, deals for expiring contracts would have taken us right under the cap. Regardless, it's still going to be hard to get under the cap, depending on how much Lee, Frye, Balkman, Nate and Collins resign for, if they even resign.

Your two statements don't make any sense next to each other. If you want to stop arguing about it, then concede part way. Saying, "I don't want to argue about it, therefore my opinion should be assumed as correct" is bogus. Like I said, either give Isiah partial-blame or the discussion continues to happen. He has to be held AT LEAST partially responsible, since he okayed the trade. Yes, it's a black slate against Isiah, maybe not fully, but at least partially.

Interesting, because you seem to really like lee and Balkman, both players draft picks obtained through deals...don't those count?

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

>>If you think another GM will do better job here you are delusional. GMs/Coaches in Cablevision world are just scapegoats of corporate agenda.

Arkrud - you are dead on the money (no pun intended)

The MSG corporate culture birthed the idea of the quick fix dating way back to Spencer Haywood For Hire. Bob McAdoo. Kiki. Paul Westphal. All with too much mileage and too late.

Now that the Knicks finally have more success in the draft than they have had in decades, the winds of change (and patience) have finally started to kick up at 2 Penn Plaza.

Which is not to say Dolan will not open up the checkbook again.

But it better be for good reason.

Thanks for the clarification!

So the result of the pick included in the deal is not part of the deal? We trade for the number one pick and pick Oden he isn't part of the deal? Folks are always complaining about the picks Isiah traded in getting Curry, I guess the resulting players picked aren't involved in the deal either.

If Isiah trades for players and picks, drafting very good/bad players with the picks certainly affects whether the deal can be classified as good or bad.
