this is what i dont get. its an ALL STAR weekend. in baseball, they dont have mediocre hitters in the home run contest. its the players who have the most homeruns. The nba 3-point contest has the best % shooters and most made shooters.
People watch to see the best players...not scrubs. How come the dunk contest for the past several years has failed to show the best dunkers in the league? It should be the best dunkers from the first half of season. Howard definately got robbed. He was the only one that came with creativity. Gerald Green is pathetic - all the athleticism....but i have yet to see him do an original dunk...ever.
Either have the best dunkers... or get rid of the event.

btw, i saw him, Ewing & Oakley gambling at the Borgata a few months back... they had the entire high rollers pit blocked off... all i know is they were playing w/stacks of Orange chips... i'da been happy to go home w/just 1 of those chips myself.

That's a really good post. Imagine how much excitement there would have been if Kobe, Vince, T-Mac, Lebron, and Wade were in it! Man, I'm excited just thinking about that! I think the dunk contest is dying but they have nothing to replace it with.

Dwight is still a kid. He caters to the Nick and Disney audience. I know cause my kids love him when he is on those channels. His sticker dunk showed originality, creativity, humour and athletic ability. Maybe he should have done a windmill after catching the ball to make MJ and DrJ happy.

You're abosolutely right. The best dunbkers have not been in the contest for at least ten years now.

For instance, the best dunkers in the game are going to be guys like Vince Carter, Kobe, McGrady, Gerald Greene, and then add a few other cats who aren't superstars but are dunking machines, kind of like Sky Walker.

The the question is how to get these guys into the contest? Put a big money prize on it! $500,000 to ,$1,000,000 shyould do it!

The dunk contest should be the absolute highlight! I'm talking Jordan Vs. 'Nique!
