I read this thread as.

An unknown source(meaning this could have been just a rumor or completely fabricated) says Isiah was going to do a stupid deal. It didn't happen. Isiah sucks because it's possible he would have done this deal that may or may not have been on the table and may or may not have included these players in it.

Also, how he could have ranked Lee as the 30th pick is incomprehensible..Isiah could have easily got him at 21....

Bizzarro Thread Alert

Isiah Thomas just got lucky when he drafted David Lee which only proves why he does not not have a vision for the Knicks young players. While everyone else was bleating about drafting anyone else instead of the unheralded Lee, Isiah simply did his homework and sat quiet to the resounding chorus of, "who's he?"

"That freakin' Isiah is an idiot!"

"David Lee, what has HE done?"

"David who?"

Then came Balkman....

Almost Traded
Feb 18 - The Knicks and Trail Blazers had a deal in place that would've sent David Lee, Penny Hardaway and his expiring contract, plus a first-round pick to Portland for Ruben Patterson and Theo Ratliff, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions.

i love how all these unnamed non descript so-called "sources" carry so much weight on these forums.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

When you sign vin baker, jerome james and jared jefferies in consecutive years and trade for hard workers like steve francis, tim thomas, mo taylor and jalen rose, everything you do should be in question.

Including your drafting. He picked the right player once with his last five drafts, with a **** load of talent on the board

Every pick that IT has made has resulted in a player that can actually play. Ariza, Frye, Nate, Lee, Balkman, and Collins. Only Collins has not yet established that he can play at this level but from what I have seen, I think he can. That is a pretty good track record for any team. Obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, you can identify someone better, but this is not an exact science. Even the best GM in the league is not going to hit with every draft pick. All you can realistically ask is that they get solid players, which IT has done.

True....Collins is a question mark, but all but Ariza are 1st rounders.

Ariza and Lee were the best things he has done here....

But i will take it to the grave that he cost us a future championship with the 7 and 21 selections, your right its not an exact science some gm are dumb enough to select a euro they have rarely seen over a promosing player or take a chance on a big guy....but nothing about drafting Bynum or Granger and taking Marcus Williams is hindsight because I would have done it in a heartbeat....

Nate is a nice talent, but he was redudant with crawford here already
