If Mardy Collins had a 9/10/4 game against the Spurs, when he only had 1 legit scoring option to work with, some people here would be calling him the next coming and talking about how bright the future is yada yada yada.

Just my 2 cents.

wow... equating Mardy Collins to a guy who has been almost universally referred to on this board as the next great PG in the NBA... now that's a stretch if there ever was one.

look is there any point other than this - balkman would have been available at 29 i think we can say this with about 99% probability so williams would have been a better choice than collins.

Uh, Mardy Collins is a nobody, you and others here say MW is the next Magic Johnson, he put those numbers up in a game that was meaningless 3 minutes into the 2nd quarter. it is objectively nothing to get excited about.

I don't remember seeing anybody who said that it was.

But his performance tonight certainly doesn't diminish the fact that MW is a potential above average starting PG in this league.

now he's just a potential above average starting PG... DAMN, how could the Knicks have passed up on this kid???

his defense is on par with Jamal Crawfords, it sucks. Just my 2 cets.

i'd say Jamal is a better defender than Marcus is for that matter

Seriously, I'm not sure the point of picking on MWill when he had a respectable game. He's a distributor, first, not a scorer, and ithe Nets were missing most of their key players, so I don't see why any of that is surprising. This is just plain hating, when in reality, most people would've been very satisfied with MWill AND Balkman, and would prefer MWill to Balkman. I don't think that's so terrible. Also, nobody compared MWill to Magic Johnson, etc... so any talk of such is purely flamebait.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

He is also a rookie and hasn't been in the league for six years like crawford, and lets just imagine he had two of the best finishing big men around the basket in curry and lee and q rich and crawford spotting up for open threes.....

Awful post by the way, we still need a pg and a good decision maker and once marbury and francis expire he would have been a nice asset.......

People hype players that would be assets, its another stupid move by isiah in a long line of them.....Had Isiah drafted this kid, and not signed anyone with the midlevel the past two years and made the francis trade he would be commended every five seconds......

10 assists is 10 assists especially when your passing to moore, house, wright, collins, etc, vince is a player but the nets don't really have anyone out there that can play like the knicks do

If you have been watching him since he donned his Nets skivvies you have noticed that he is a shoot-first PG, not a pass-first PG.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

that's not what i noticed. he dominates the ball a lot but he's pretty balanced in his passing/shooting i thought.

Yeah, everytime I see Marcus play, it seems like they're using him as a backup scoring guard. Marcus does have excellent court vision though I think he takes a little too many chances with some of his passes. He's a good scorer though. Defense is atrocious. Not sure how good he can become in that area since he doesn't seem to be all that athletic.

seems like a lesser Deron Williams. If he works hard, he could turn out to be a solid starter.

I thoroughly disagree. He actually tries to get his teammates involved. Unlike guys by the first names of Steph, Stevie, Jamal and Nate.

DJ I was just getting ready to post something similar. He has shot the ball in a few games he's played. One of the knocks on him coming into the draft was about his jumper. I've seen him play about 7x this yr and most of his shots come from constantly being left wide open. He doesn't feel comfortable shooting yet for 2 reasons. 1) he looks to pass first and 2) he's not quite comfortable with his shot. Once he finds his groove the rest will be history, because his passing is already light yrs ahead of where most rookie point gaurds are at when they enter the league.

He needs to work on his off the ball, screen, and help defense. He's a decent man-to-man defender for a rookie.

I am not going to kill someone about their defense if they are making the game easier for everyone on the court, Nash can't really defend but he gets everyone to share the ball and its far greater to team unity than a guy that is just scoring without playing defense....

You can see the ability to find people in his game that is really going to benefit others in the long run

Compare MW with marbs, nash, etc. is ridiculous...
He is a ruk and he must be matched against Collins alike...
Not taking him was a gigantic blunder but not something exceptional among other IT blunders.

But it is all getting old...
Any team in NBA eventually will pass on somebody. Just go over it...

Uhhh if anyone watched the game they would see Marcus had a decent opening few minutes where he racked up 4 assists. Getting 6 more in garbage time should impress no one. How about the 8 pts 9 assists for Marbury in a WIN?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

for what it's worth, TJ Ford is torching the Nets in the first half.
