man how times have changed. new york is historically such a physical, passionate team full of warriors on the front line and scoring/passing studs in the back court. we may have not been the most talented but what we lacked in execution we made up for in hustle. 15 years ago when you came to the garden opposing players knew you better put those pads on, you're going to get roughed up from 48 minutes of in your face defense. everyone knew that, there was an intimidation. now look at us...

to many LJ was a warrior. TO LJ, Maybe it was a very painful job and he felt the business side of it was not so cool.

This guy was in pain for years and played thru an 84 million contract. Perhaps after all the treatments and all the prescription whatever he just really never enjoyed the lime light, or maybe even New York city?

He played for a nasty owner with the Hornets and the knicks are really not much better to play for. Great city, ****tyy management!

Guys like Larry might really have enjoyed his team mates but not much else

As a fan we have accept not everyone is Patrick or Clyde.

There is Spree also.

I remember Walton really digigng into LJ calling him "an embarassment to the human race" for amung other things having a stable of illegitamet kids with different women and some other things I can't recal. While Walton I felt was really out of line to have said it on the air, it is what he thinks of him and it may just raise the question of Larrys "Other" Side? Might be an ineresting story.

I wonder if steroids might have played in to all this to aid in healing a bad back?
As far as on the court, he was great. A pleasure to watch this kid in college and in Charlotte for a few years. Famous infighting between him and Alonzo mourning!

THanks for the memories Larry and a Job well done!~

it's not the video that makes us reminisce... it's the other memories that watching the video brings up that gets us all emotional & sappy.

*sniffle* *sniffle*

if only Channing could learn how hit an open 3 point shot... & pass out of the post... & defend... & be a leader... &...
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

He was the last in a line of 3 TOUGH small forwards we were able to have in the nineties.
X-Man, Mase, LJ. All of them TOUGH AS NAILS! Any of them could have played PF.
Now we don't even have a PF that can play PF. How sad.

I loved LJ, he was a beast. But how can someone pair a video of him with that whiney voiced crybaby of a song. Seriously how is that even music?

Great video tho

Nice but I'll stick with Paul Pfeiffer's LJ video, even though Pfeiffer's video is art and all. Freaking LJ. Dude had a more colorful home life than most Knicks. IIRC, toward the end of his career there was a lot of speculation that he was in JvK's dog house but, in retrospect, JvG was just covering for a broken down LJ. A bit OT but didn't LJ have a beef with Oakley at some point? I can't remember the details but maybe a LJhead knows.
