if PGs are so cheap, then why after drafting 2 and paying 3 a combined $40mm this year do we STILL need a PG?

Well I didn't mean cheap as in a monetary sense as in Francis Contract. I meant cheap as in not hard to get, like what we gave up talent wise for Francis. If I trade Frye it's to move contracts and get extra picks. We can always trade for point guards, sign point guards and draft points because they are High in quantity......

That would be a stupid trade for both teams, both players would not benefit going to their new teams. Williams would threaten Marbury with his pg skills and effect his psyche and frye would really be exposed(slowfooted) on New Jersey updown style of play.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

i may be in the minority here...but i actually think we'd be better off if we invest all the time to make frye our featured player. he's a better passer and he can step out to hit the jumper. he may not have the physical presence as eddy but he still has a bit of a post game. i would even say that our offense would look BETTER if frye was the featured guy and not eddy. he will board more, block more shots, and play defense better playing the center position. but that option is no longer feasible as we are married to curry as our franchise guy.

So we are going to trade Frye for a guy who:

A.) Is having not as good a rookie campaign than Frye's rookie campaign even though he had backup PG handed to him.
b.) Is losing minutes to Eddie House even though he had backup PG handed to him.
c.) Shoots too much, takes bad shots, and shoots poor percentages at the PG position.
d.) Would instantly become the worst defensive player in the back court.
E.) Turns it over too much.
f.) Already has 4 guys ahead of him on the Knicks (Remember he is losing time to House.)
g.) Has already shown that he has character issues and poor personal judgement.
h.) Isiah already passed on him, he ain't coming here!

***

Rod Thorn would do that in 3 seconds flat, and then we would be watching Frye blossom in Brooklyn. No thank you.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Channing frye as our starting center would vault Jerome James into games at the 3 minute mark of the 1st period of each game.

Frye post up defense (pushing and bumping) staying in foul trouble would destroy his confidence.

we have to accept that if we trade frye, he WILL blossom somewhere else b/c he will be featured there. but it's all about fit. if we can get a player who can help us more than frye, then you have to make the move. i like marcus but i would not want to trade frye to nj/bk.

I like Frye, but this personal vendetta people have against Curry is getting ridiculous. there are like two people in the NBA who would be better in a low post offense than Curry, and Curry is still getting better.

he's at about 23ppg on 60% shooting since late November. the people in his stratosphere offensively in the low post you can count on one hand.

people will roll their eyes about this, but to deny curry's excellence on offense is plain old ridiculous.

name one person here that has denied his "excellence" on offense. everytime someone's ready to critique him, it starts off "he's awesome offensively but..."

but the question is he a one man show? will he make others better? will he make the game easier for everyone else? or will he just be able to score on his own? zach is a 20/10 guy but he doesn't make his team better b/c on offense, he can get his but everyone is left standing around.

a big problem for us this year is he takes about 5-7 seconds off the clock just waiting for the double and deciding where to pass it...this leads to a rushed shot. he has to work on that this summer and he has to get better.

agreed. but I feel like he is learning. last year, something like that behind the back pass to Dlee would have been unthinkable from Curry. He had 3 assists his last game. he is learning.

we need a Lindsey Hunter or Brevin Knight more than we do a Marcus Williams IMO... a role playing backup PG who plays good perimeter defense & can hit a big shot when he's left open... that's the type of G we need to target at this point... i'd rather deal Channing to get someone like Chris Duhon if i had to trade big for small.

IMO i say we save Channing for a deal to get ourselves a shotblocker, because he's 1 of the few assets we have to make a deal with & fill a need... PG is not an essential need at this point... Marbury's been playing pretty well of late... we can address the PG need when his contract becomes expiring 2 years from now.

Marcus is 21 YO and WAY better than the guys u mentioned RIGHT now. If Im giving up Frye--its NOT for a wash UP 30+ does anyone watch nets?

Marcus is playing well. It's almost too bad they have House eating his minutes.

I don't know if they'd do the trade because Frye is pretty similar to Nenad (though not quite as good yet). Seems like Nenad and Frye would eventually be redundant and then they'd need a new replacement for Kidd.
