So if we have to shut down Marbury you guys rather have no Francis at all? Absurd.

if we shut him down for a few games at a time, yes having a replacement would be nice. but i think we'll do worse trying to juggle steph and steve for the rest of the games. come on, you don't think the team's slow start to the season had something to do with those two fitting together like... well, fitting together really, really badly? all of a sudden we're talking playoffs again, and you want to go back to that? come on.

I think the slow start was everyone trying to find a way to play together- Francis starting to bring an A game before he shut it down.

Now, Marbury 'got it' once Francis left- can Marbury continue to play at this level with Francis on the active roster- that is the question. I'd like to think he can- because I would love a 3 person back court of Marbury, Francis and Crawford if they can 'click'.

Big IF.

If the Steve Francis of old returns, then this will be big news. The chances of that happening though are pretty slim.

Steve Francis is still 30 years old with a lot of basketball left. He was a dominating player and all-star just 2 years ago. This is anything but bad news.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

i think that's exactly the reason he's here...b/c marbury's knee clock is ticking.

If Stevie Francis returns to the form of old it would make even more sense to trade him for a player that can help with one of our weaknesses, should that player become a available.

I give francis' knee 3 weeks before he's hobbled again.

Personally I'd rather have Francis than Marbury at this point.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

30 is just a number. Francis has a ton of mileage on him, especially his knees. With the way he played earlier this year, I'm surprised you're taking this news and running to the bank with it. There is no reason to believe that Francis will return to his all-star level with the way he played earlier this year as well as last year between both the Magic and the Knicks.

I'm more of a Marbury guy right now. He's playing well, and has finally bought into a coaches system after 10 years of torturing others. He's still learning how to win, but we have his ear right now. Plus I like his game better than Stevie at the point. I think Steve is great in the fullcourt game but in the half-court game I think he is a disaster at this point. I think he's struggled in offenses that are geared around big guys and it would be a major adjustment again.

Solace why do you prefer Stevie?

does he fit here? that's the key question. i mean, baron davis and AI are both good... but do we need them here?

Finally, Larry Brown's decision to trade for Francis is vindicated.
