I still think that there's a level of impatience around here that is misplaced. This particular GROUP is in it's 2nd year together and it's starting to improve. But you also have to allow time for the Coach to get a feel for what his players can do and how to use them. This isn't always easy. We don't have players that are perfect prototypical positon players. However, there's plenty of time to figure out what this team needs and how to address those needs. Isiah's trying to do it from within. Using the pieces he has on the roster to find that proper balance. After trying these things if he still doesn't see it, then i'm sure he'll look to find a player to fill our needs.
So what do we know about this team:
1. We can score
2. We can rebound
3. We can't defend consistently
4. We can comeback from large deficits and show heart
5. This team likes each other and they play for the Coach
6. We play hard, but not always smart and Isiah has more work to do
Despite what many seem to think, this team has a bright future. We have a good deal of youth and some veterans as well. We have a lot of size, which gets overlooked. Once Isiah gets these guys right, that is going to be a big plus for us. This team has shown it can compete with most of the teams in the league and really it's only the lack a strong defensive commitment that has kept us from being a .500 or better team this year. I think in time that will be fixed. I agree with Clyde that we haven't seen a run from this team, but that they probably have one in them and that may be all it takes to make a success of this season.
Nixluva you just described the role and job of every GM in the NBA. Of course that's what he's trying to do. But can you not understand where the impatience comes from. Open your mind for one quick second and try to see from the point of view of others that don't agree with you. Isiah has brought in more than one piece that either has no role on the roster or is being paid to do something else. Many of the moves were question marks from the very beginning. When fans see 4 or 5 moves that they disagree with from the get go and then see those moves work out exactly as they predicted, their patience starts to wear thin.
Again, I like the young guys, but I am under no misconception that should Isiah be in trouble and his job is on the line, this core may be broken up. Number 2 this line-up has a lot of improving to do in order to get better from within. Fans like to discuss these things. Some of these things are pure effort and do not require skill. Fans have no patience for that either. They talk about that too. Not all fans look at this team as you do and think even the core can turn into a title contender. That is their right. I'm sure if they liked the core as you do they would have plenty of patience.
There are a lot of factors in why SOME people don't have the patience that you do. You like the core and Isiah and feel it can be a contender. Some don't. It's all opinion.
