just find it curious that you never post any threads ragging on Frye or D Lee for their pisspoor help defense... is it always Curry's fault when guys are getting to the lane & scoring at will?

Frye is equally as bad. Lee doesent quite have the ability IMO that Frye and Curry have to change shots. he is a lot smaller, smaller wingspan I just dont expect it from him. Frye I will gladly make a post about, his interiour defense is terrible.

Heres something though..... Frye seems to be lost, it seems to be more about not understanding a lot of the time not as much effort. And also I think Frye has a big time confidence issue I see him making a lot of excuses out there he just needs to man up. Curry just doesent try. plain and simple and its really frustrating cuz you know he could avg 3 blocks per game if he got his head out of his ass

I think you have never seen him play more than one bad game. Dudes a pretty physical guy and he trys very hard. Thats all Ive asked from our lovable chubbs. I'm not asking him to lock guys down, just try. A little

Holfrye, im not saying he IS the worst ever.. im saying he MIGHT BE so the whole point of this thread was for people to name players i had never heard of or couldent think of so my level of respect for Curry could raise a half a percentage point.

Funny i was going to ask your age earlier because i suspected you had to be 16 years old or younger judging from your posts today comparing Eddy Curry with Gilbert Arenas, Carmelo and others... But i diddnt want to get too insulting in case you were just a dumb adult.

It is the center's job to defend the paint once a perimeter defender gets beaten. It should be a matter of pride. See: Zo, Mutombo

you know the thing that makes me so mad about Curry is that I honestly think with a few adjustments he could average 3 blocks per game easy. Its still possible, last year he needed to stop with the offensive fouls to become a real low post threat.. he did that. This year he needs to start contesting every player who takes it to the basket, and learn how to position his body in a way that he can effectively block a shot. Its not something I dont think hes capable of... he just doesent try or doesent know how, which is what makes it soooooooo frustrating. Rik Smits just wasent physically capable of doing much more than he did out there.. Curry is.

so let's say Curry rotates... who then guards his man? or is he supposed to defend 2 guys at the same time? there were plenty of instances last night when i saw Curry guarding Okafor on the other side & either Channing or D Lee lost track of where G Wallace was & he got a wide open look at a layup... is that Curry's fault? again, i'm not saying he's a good defender at all, but you guys always rag on the guy for not playing D & i never hear anywhere near the same type of criticisms being thrown at either Channing or Lee... all 3 of those kids are horrible defenders.

Smits was 7'4" dude... he should have been averaging at least 4-5 bpg w/that size, but he was just about the slowest moving player i've ever seen short of Georghe Muresan... Curry's carrying some extra weight on him which accounts for his difficulty getting off the ground to block shots, plus he's very conscious of collecting cheap fouls because he wants to stay on the floor... he need to work on his conditioning in the offseason & you'll see an improvement next season... he's never going to be a great defender tho, so the sooner you accept that fact, the sooner you'll be able to focus more on what he does do well on the floor, & that's putting points up on the board.

At least Channing and Lee try their butts off, and DLee is improving. I don't have the same knocks on him anymore. He still needs to move quicker, but he's doing better. Channing, to me, just doesn't have quite the phyisical ability to be a consistent defender at the power foward while Curry has all the potential in the world, yet he just doesn't show up. I personally can't trust a player like that. You either have the motivation to try hard all the time, or you don't. Curry, to me, doesn't have it and that's why he's not a franchise player nor do I see him becoming one anytime soon.

curry doesn't "jump" like skiles said. and even when he does, he doesn't have "hops". he looks real pretty and nimble making an offensive move, but pay attention to how high he actually gets off the floor. it's not that high. at peak, he only really gets his hands over the rim. that's why he's always laying stuff up instead of dunking it. he doesn't have the motor to just jump up high on a dime. that's why he'll never be a good shot blocker. that says nothing about his defense, just about his shot blocking ability.

Defense is about effort, you gotta want it, you gotta taste it, you need to exude it, spew it and command it - Curry is not even close to any of those. Thing is if a player does not want to WORK it is up to the coach to MAKE HIM work. I watched Pat Reilly do it. I see in college games. Isiah would rather focus on Free Throws than making his team and especially Curry play defense. Blame Isiah - Curry would do it if it was the coach's priority.

Best cure for bad defense is an ass full of splinters.
