Trade proposals. Sheesh.

Does Curry?

I think the better question is --- will we ever have the proper cast to build around Curry?

Where's the superstar to compliment him?

Where's the athletic shotblockers, pass-first PG's, and rugged rebounding? (for the record Lee is a great offensive rebounder and loose ball hound, but not a force inside).

Let's face it -- given our payroll and draft situation, we'll never really be able to make this a Curry-happy environment.

You can't build around a halfcourt giant with roadrunners...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Put this into perspective:

"Great shotblocker" (Hasheem Thabeet?)
Lee
Lewis
QRich
Crawford

Frye
Nate
Balkman
etc.

That's a cast that's perfectly in sinc to play uptempo fan-friendly basketball.

Essentially Golden State basketball, and believe me, they are FUN to watch.

They're playing .500 basketball right now, and in the Eastern conference, that's good enough for the 6th-8th seeds.

Honestly........maybe a team like that is all we can really hope for with Dolan running the show....

yea but if neither play D then who would you rather have - a dominating low post scorer or a really good scoring small forward?

As soon as the knicks would go out and get a real solid shotblocker that can't score the ball you all will wish you had a guy like Curry that could score. Trade Frye and Crawford for Lewis instead

Wait, how about Frye and Crawford for Lewis and the right to swap 1st round picks with them?

If you look back on dominating low post scorers, most of them didn't need or have a shotblocker next to them.

Most had a solid post defender and rebounder.

Hakeem had Thorpe.

Robinson had Rodman and Cummings.

Ewing had Oak and Mase.

Shaq had Horry, Walker, Grant, and Haslem.

I wouldn't mind building around Curry, even in spite of his deficiences and the fact that he's not a franchise player.

The only problem is that we have another 80 million or so tied up in run and gun players, not half court grind it out ones.

It really comes down to quality versus quantity.

Is Eddy SO good that he warrants us COMPLETELY restructuring our roster just to build adequately around him with shooters, shotblockers, another star, and pass-1st PG's?

Or should we just drop him and go with the whole New York Suns idea?

You be the judge...

I would Rather trade curry in this trade, he is not good in an up-temp style and we wont be able to build a good enough team that compliments him. this trade gives us an identity right away as a running team, and would also allow Lee to finally start and would make Frye far more effective as he would finally be playing his natural position.

It would have to be something like Curry and Jeffries for Lewis, their 1st draft pick, and one of their young center prospects or whatever expiring contract they have to make the trade work. That trade would give us a solid starting SF, get rid of a bad contract, and give us a high draft pick for IT to find more talent. No way I would do just Curry for Lewis. Lewis is only an average defensive player himself.

Rashard, Ray Allen and Ridnour cannot work but for some reason Rashard, Frye and Lee will work? Come on!
Name me the last time a superstar DIDN'T resign with his team?
Here is another name to be added to the list. Tracy McGrady

In order for the knicks to be an uptempo team they need to have a point guard

They don't have the personell in the frontcourt to sustain their awesome backcourt.

Ridnour is already on thin ice and reportedly wants out, Lewis has been unhappy, and Allen is easily suited for halfcourt play.

Their frontcourt is slow and ill-suited for uptempo basketball. With the exception of maybe Sene, all of their bigs are bruisers (Collison, Fortson, Wilcox, Wilkins, etc.).

We DO have the personell (Frye, Lee, Balkman, Jefferies, etc.)

He was traded.

So was Kidd, Marbury, Allen, Iverson, etc, etc.

He WASN'T signed.

Left Toronto for Orlando. Same with Grant Hill. Didn't work out but he did sign with another team.

Grant Hill was a S&T.

McGrady wasn't a superstar.

You guys try too hard.

Bobs, how do you classify a superstar?

Arenas averaged 18-4-6 in his last season in GS. He was a young star at the time. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3540/career;_ylt=AuOpzrdOeblh.lhBYL9B_OqkvLYF

McGrady got to Orlando in a sign and trade. And McGrady averaged 15-6-3 the year before he left. Young superstar like Arenas. Same with Hill and Detroit. Sign and trades are basically signing. You're nitpicking on that.

The fact that there are so few "superstars" out there makes the point you're trying to prove easy. Who you classify as a superstar is objective.

bobs, you make a good argument here, but I don't know about such a trade unless the sonics threw in their pick. But Lewis is a flawed player also, he loves to spot up a lot, he isn't that good of a defender, nor creator off the dribble. Curry is a low post scorer, I will take that over a jump shooter at this point, but If their pick, unprotected was included, I might bite..
