i don't think it's that deep. if we can sit and talk about pretty obvious stuff, then those guys that are around the team everyday can see it also.

Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back.

How did nobody respond to my brilliant quote yet? I got it from my college humanities professor. It's one of my favorite lines; I'm not sure where she got it from.

I like it because I can visualize someone so arrogant that they keep patting themselves on the back until you hear *snap*. Then again, maybe I'm insane.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Let's face it, there is not better coverage of the Knicks than this forum..It's the reason I show up daily....I would even venture to say that in some ways this forum is the pulse of whats happening with the Knicks..It would almost be foolish for a sports writer who is not necessarily on the beat not to glance to see what's the latest talk of the Knick town is...Also a beat writer will glance to see what the concerns are for the people who root for the Knicks...So running with a few ideas found here and putting it in print isn't far fetched at all...

Agreed 100%

Theres no doubt writers check out these sites, they are in the business of selling papers and if you want to sell papers, you might as well write about what people want to read about.

Nice quote. Now stop patting yourself on the back for it!

If you listen to WFAN or any sports talk radio you'll hear it too.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I think they take quotes from us all the time, or at least use a topic that we are viciously debating and turn it into a easy money essay.

I know Berman, Mitch, popper, etc have used some of us. There is no way we can prove it though. Still its all basketball so its possible for them to come up with similiar views. Still sometimes articles are posted right after we just finished talking about it. Berman was on ny1 the other day talking about something I was posting the day before. He was saying it like he read it. I automatically thought he could be using what I said.

Like I said there is no way to prove it.

I have been noticing that the media are more and more making statements that I have seen other posters make on this forum. It could be just coincidence or that the things we talk about are so obvious that the reporters reach the same conclusions that we do. However, I often wonder if these guys are coming here and reading the posts and pulling their stories from what we talk about.

It doesn't surprise me that anyone' even players themselves, would be coming to these message boards, just to see what's on people's minds. The media has always had responses, interviews from players, but fans? Not too many, so it would not surprise me. They didn't have access to something called the internet and e-mail before. So when you talk, talk your best talk and say what's on your mind. Keep it clean if at all possible so you at least sound like you know what your talking about.
I'll never trust this' team again.

We have been talking about media types sneaking a peek and writing columns...How about posters...He is one guy on Hollinger's power ranking talking about the Knicks that relates to a recent thread I started:

Brian (Poughkeepsie)
"When it seems like they can get on a roll after beating Miami, they lose a tough close one to the Bucks. But at least they are finally looking and playing more like a real "team." Now if only they had LeBron!"

It's not just that they are in the business of selling papers. Writers are not gods. They do not see everything. Let's face it: Fans who contribute regularly on this site have a pretty good handle on this team. We watch the games, read about the games/team, discuss the games/team. If I were a writer in a tough market like NY, I would want any advantage I can get. In the age of the Internet, that clearly means going to as many fan sites as possible and reading everything I can on the team I am covering.

It's like this: The writers want to talk to the fans to know what they are thinking. If a writer is in a bar sitting next to a fan, of course he will discuss the team with the fan. Or he will discuss the team with fellow writers. You always want to get as many opinions as possible. This way, you might realize things about the team that you would not have thought of on your own. Think of a message board as a way of "talking" to the fans, or at least soliciting their thoughts. I don't think there's a writer out there who would not agree this is an important, if not essential, part of the job.

Did you have to use the word "wee" in conjunction with the image of dj not wearing any pants?

It's troubling and disturbing that you felt the need to tell us. I will never look at Grant Hill the same way again.
