Nash and Dirk need to wear headbands and carry the ball more, then they could get voted on. Plus Tim Duncan should not be starting in my opinion and I didnt think 2 of the same postion (SG) could start in the allstar line up. I guess this yr they are just doing the top to gaurd vote getters.

If they keep china out of the voting process i think you would get a more balanced western conference since its always yao and their second best player.....the franchise even got asked multiple times because of it

But the MVP and the best player on the best team? Thats an injustice don't you think. Sure both will probably get recoginzation at the end of the season but they belong as starters in the All-Star game. If Nash was maybe the third best point guard and Dirk was just pretty decent but Duncan has not had one of his better years or Garnett though a great player his teams always stink. Dirk and Steve belong as starters for the West.

It's an injustice sure, but thems the breaks! It actually upsets me more when a guy who might be having a great year and this one year is his only chance and he is bumped because the coaches like another player better, or are rewarding him for being solid for 10 years like with Divac. They are supposed to be more objective than the fans.

Like in the post I made above, this cuts across all industries like acting and music. The people see who they want to see. Star and good ain't the same thing!

Its one thing to see a Josh Howard, Tony Parker, get left off the team but the reigning MVP and probably the best shooting 7fter ever. And Tracy McGrady over Steve Nash if anything that really shows the intelligence level of basketball fans lol.

Are Dirk and Nash getting left off the team? I thought we were talking about starters? It's the coaches job to make sure that Nash or Dirk don't get left off.

Intelligence really doesn't come into it. The all-star game starters is a popularity contest. Stars are very popular players, not necessarily the best players. I remember Karl Malone whining and threatening to not attend because he wasn't starting. That is the wrong attitude in my opinion. He was the best forward for a while, but he certainly wasn't the biggest "Star"!

Just like my music/acting example above, the biggest stars in these professions are not necessarily the best at their craft, or the most accomplished.

As a matter of fact, the NBA is doing really well recognizing their stars for substance when you compare them to other forms of popular entertainment!

And if the fans vote in Starbury, that is their right!

in that case let's determine who gets in by which players sold the most jerseys that year... we can call it the "All Favorites Team" & no one's feelings will be hurt when they're putting up a monster year & don't ge recognized for it... hey that way we might even have a Knick in the game afterall.

like i said, allowing the fans to vote makes the Allstar game a complete farce.

That's entertainment!

"All-Star" and "All-Favorites" are synonymous. A star is literally a fan favorite. Usually it coincides with great play, but often a more exciting player is a bigger star than a better player.

It's no different in any other part of entertainment. Is the biggest star actor the best actor? Is the biggest music star the best musician or singer? Not the last time I checked.

last time i checked they handed out Oscars to the best rated acting performances that year by the academy voters, not to whoever sold the most tickets at the box office & were the most popular.

anyway, why am i responding to you when i said i was going to ignore you from now on? DAMMIT! got sucked right in!
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

You've been responding to me for a while. It is I who have decided to start responding to you.

If you have watched the Oscars, then you know they F it up just as bad as the fans do in the all-star game every year. They vote in actors or movies because of political Agendas and all sorts of reasons.

Or how about the Grammys? You ever see the garbage that wins in that farce? That is more of a popularity contest than the NBA all-star game ever could be.

Though multiple voting through internet messes up the NBA voting a little, it is way more 'pure' than the nonsense we see in the Oscars/Grammys/Emmys/Tonys every year.
