Curry will probly end up being a bigger better Kevin Duckworth.

Meaning at his peak he'll be a 20+, 8+, 1+ Center on a good playoff team.

But he needs help.

He needs atleast another All-Star, a pure PG, and defensive role players.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I would be surprised if Curry had more than a good 4 seasons left in him. Now I realize that Curry is only I believe 24,25 which is not old but when counting in Professional Sports you need to go by seasons played. Curry is currently in his 6th season with all the extra weight that he's carrying around its going to be a problem down the road. Part of having longevity in Sports is about consistently being in excellent condition. Curry is not now nor has he ever been the picture of great physical condition. Now sure some may point to Shaq and say it can be done but remember Shaq has always taken off a good 15 to 20 games these past 3 seasons and he's always been stronger and just bigger than most of his opponents. Whereas Curry is just heavier not necessarily stronger. Now he may continue to have a terrific season this year and have a even better one next year but how much longer before all the seasons of being out of condition and carrying around extra weight will catch up to him?

I really think he can average 25 points a game for the rest of the year. How many games is he just scoring what looks like at will? The talent is there. 12 rebounds is possible but with Lee and Q in the game I don't really see it. If he can do 7 or 8 this year I'll be content cause we don't need so much more, we are #1 in rebounding with him sucking.

It doesn't matter if no other center gets 25 and 12. Throw out the relative argument and look at what you got... A center who puts his energy on the offensive side of the ball, shoots at a high percentage and can't be guarded except by a handful of players.

Now, add that he is shooting free throws better. He was averaging about 17 a game while shooting a low FT %. Now aad 5 to 8 points to that total. His confidence is going up with FT shooting which will make him even more the monster to want to score. This is synergy, hard to imagine but it's happening...

Good point. No one really talks about the fact that we are #1 in rebounding even with weak rebounders in Curry and Frye. Obviously, Frye and Curry need to get better (and Frye has loked better as a rebounder lately) but I think this is an issue that the team can overcome because Lee and Q are above average rebounders for their position and everyone else on the team are solid rebounders for their respective positions.

Curry is the truth and once he learns how to handle double teams effectively, this team is going to be tough to stop. Remember this is the first season that Curry has really had to deal with consistent double teams. SO even though he is in his 6th year, this is really something that he is just learning to handle. I think by next year, he will be alot more comfortable with the double teams and we can really run our offense competently through him. With continued work, Curry should be able to get to a level where he averages 25 pts, 9 rbs., 2.5 ast., 1.5 blocks. I could live with that from our center. We just need to put the right players around him.

the year Eddy shows up in shape I will be on board 100% with all of this. He's an amazing athlete. I mean Clyde's jargon about feline quickness is right on. He's broad. He could be a realy monster out there. But he's fat. Can he play at this weight? Sure... and gush away at his numbers all day. But he guards nobody, and how does a guy with his physical advantage rebound like he does?

18 games this year Eddy has had 6 rebounds or less. Thats just a product of poor effort and poor conditioning.

When Eddy shows up in shape. When Eddy plays at the weight he showed up at in his contract year in Chi all this talk will be justified. Until then we are hoping he 'jumps' for rebounds when the game is on the line

LOL 30 teams in the NBA could live with that from their center. Its so funny reading how high we set the bar for Curry. Who gets that from their center outside of Yao this season?
By the way the doubles are a real compliment to Curry but he actually is averaging more points since the doubles than he did before the doubles.

I was being facetious when I said that. I think 25, 9, 2.5, 1.5 are great numbers for a center and any team should be able to be competitive with that kind of production in the post.

"He is not going to be the best center in the league, but he will probably remain in the top-3 or 4 for the next 5-7 years if he stays in shape and continues to work on his game."

I just don't see this. Undoubtably Curry is a strong scorer, but to be one of the best in the league you need to have the total package, especially at center. It's easier to mask the deficiencies of a scoring guard, but center is a position where it's important to be good in other areas as well. Curry is a bad rebounder, and a worse defender. He gives the Knicks no help in the middle, which is why they rank 26th on defense (http://www.knickerblogger.net/stats/2007/d_de.htm). He's only averaging 7.3 rebounds per game, and has never averaged better than 9.5 per 40 minutes. And I don't ever see him being in good enough shape to play 40 minutes a game. Nor do I see him improving his rebounding enough to improve on that average. He's just not tenacious enough.

Curry will be behind Yao, Jermaine O'Neal, Bosh, and Dwight Howard, mainly because those guys are superior rebounders and defenders. In 5-7 years there'll probably be a couple more centers that have passed Eddy as well (Oden?, Noah?, Thabeet?, etc.) He'll be a solid starter, but one which deficiencies that keep him from being in the top 5.

Curry will probably average 21 and 9 next year and he will probably top out at about 24-25 pts. and 10 rbs per game. He is not going to be the best center in the league, but he will probably remain in the top-3 or 4 for the next 5-7 years if he stays in shape and continues to work on his game. That is certainly enough to win a championship if we can put the right pieces around him. As has been said before, we really need a young Ben Wallce/P.J. Brown type to help mask Curry's deficiences. I don't think Lee or Frye will cut it. Lee is a great rebounder but he is only an average defensive player and provides no shot-blocking. Maybe he can improve, but I don't see him becoming an intimidating defensive force. Fyre has the length but is not fluid enough to be a defensive presence. I really think we will ultimately have to trade Lee to get the PF we need. Frye can play C and PF and provides scoring for the second unit. Plus, you can put Frye out on the floor to create more space for Curry. You replace Lee with an Okafor-type PF and Curry's defensive lapses will not be as profound. I would hate to lose Lee, but I think we will ultimately have to give him up to get the PF we really need.

Either Frye or Curry must step up and be the shot blocker, maybe they can tag team it. Lee plays excellent defense when in his comfort zone, when you ask him to get on the wing and guard paul pierce or any other quick 3 then you are setting him up to fail. Lee is every much part of a championship team. All of the intangibles, the IQ, the only guy i know that is fundemantally sound in his second year. All Lee needs is a mid range jumpshot, but even if he doesn't have that, he is still way better than most role player PFs in the league. The good thing is, he is humble and will keep improving. The biggest thing for us is to see if Lee is loyal and to see if IT and Dolan can invest their money is something with a positive return. Lee's agent will definately demand some serious cash, they better pay him. get this man an extension asap!

You could make the statement that every all star needs another All-star to win, look at KG, all that talent and he has only reached the conf finals once. Basically, no one star can do it by themselves. I am not comparing the 2, just saying your statement that Curry needs an All-Star next to him to win basically can be applied everywhere inn the league.

i don't think you can isolate things like that.

amare is a center b/c he's on the suns.

when i say "even" amare, it's b/c he's playing out of position on a unique team running a unique system in the league.

This is very true, the Sun's system just makes everyone else look better than what they really are. Couple that with Steve Nash and that's why they are so good. Amare is all athleticism, just like McDeyss was before his leg injury, he plays great D and patrols the paint. I think if you took Amare and put him any other system he would not look as good. He needs Nash and the run and gun style. Imagine Amare trying to settle down and play Jeff Van Gundy's style basket ball. His numbers would decline, not his style.

That system makes Amares game look better not worse. Curry averages 19ppg and he has never played witha ball distributor like Nash. What would Curry average with Nash? How many Slams would he have? How could other teams double Curry with all of the Suns lights out shooters? Curry would probably be a 25ppg guy with Nash
