hmm, woulda been nice to get in on that deal in a 3 way... i've always wanted Al Harrington on this team.

Man, the faithful here was all against trying to get this cat in the offseason...

Who?

Bro, I had this arguments with so many people....Can't recall...DJ, Maybe nyk4ever...few others..can't point the finger with certainty..

They were saying he was a head case and we didn't need that here...Lots of LB overhang arguments...

yeah, BRIGGS pretty much called him a waste back when i proposed trades to go after him... i woulda gave IND Channing Frye for him in a heartbeat.

C - Curry
PF - D Lee
SF - Harrington
SG - Q Rich
PG - Jamal

that woulda been a nice starting 5 that i could root for... obviously you put Marbury in there over Jamal for now since he's Isiah's boy, but after 2 years when Marbury comes off the books, all of those guys will still be in their primes, & Balkman would likely be a great 6th man to have coming off the bench.

Maybe since Joumana is single now she can kinda convince RJ to switch sides?

HA!! If she really wants to get Jason back, she'll do a porn flick with Jimmy Jackson and Jamal Mashburn.

GSW bent them into a pretzel in this deal. This team is going to put up a ton of points for Nelly.

pg=Davis/Sarunas
g=Rich/Ellis/Ezbueke
sf=Barnes/Jack
pf=Harrington/Pietrus
C=Biendrins/O'Bryant

This is a win for the Warriors. Basically Harrington, Jackson, Sarunas for Diogu, Murphy, Dunleavy.

Harrington is a little better than Murphy. Jackson is considerably better than Dunleavy and Sarunas is a nice piece. Losing Diogu is tough, but Sarunas is another very good piece.

Quite a trade. The Pacers paid a lot to get Diogu. Dunleavy was a mistake, though. That one will hurt them.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think the trade helps the philosophy of what the Pacers like to do, I just don't know if they'll have enough to get the job done. Dunleavy really gets a bad rap. He is what he is at least to this point. Somewhat like Frye, just a little too soft, but given the opportunity can fill up a stat sheet here and there.

Just doing some rough projections if they gel together

J.O.=20pts/10reb/2blks
Tinsley=17pts/8ast
Dunleavy=15pts/6reb/4ast
Murphy=David Lee=12pts/10reb
Daniels=12pts/3ast

Bench=Granger, Foster, Baston, Diogu, Mcleod, Williams

Official: Warriors And Pacers Complete Blockbuster Deal
17th January, 2007 - 2:03 pm
Press Release -

The Golden State Warriors have acquired forward Al Harrington, guard/forward Stephen Jackson, guard Sarunas Jasikevicius and forward Josh Powell from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for forwards Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu and guard Keith McLeod, it was announced today by Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin.

"We are excited about this trade," said Mullin. "As I've said on several occasions, we are always looking to make our basketball team better and, with this move, I think we have accomplished that goal. We have acquired players who will fit in very well with our particular style of basketball. As with any trade, we also had to surrender players that we like both on and off the court. I think this transaction will be good for both teams and all of the players involved."

“We feel we made a pretty significant trade for the franchise that will be good for both teams,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. “Trades are always painful because you give up players you like, but in this case, we think it’s a good trade that works for both teams. We feel the players we got will make a significant difference in the franchise.” [READ]

Dunleavy was a mistake, and hes soft too. But Murphy aint soft at all, so we'll see, plus hes compared to Larry Bird in that he shoots so well anf grabs so many boards, and so on. I think that played a big role for Indiana too.

I actually like Troy Murphy a lot. He's a very solid and consistent player. If the Pacers had gotten *anyone* except Dunleavy, I'd say they did well, but Dunleavy's defense is so bad that I honestly don't think you can be a team much above .500 with him in the starting lineup. Plus he's overpaid. I still think Dunleavy going #3 in that draft was one of the biggest draft embarassments in recent memory. Taking a player purely on media hype... embarassment to the organization; and I'm sure getting rid of Dunleavy was a big part of this move for them.

They will use mike off the bench and start granger, they warrior did a good job of unloading those deals and they can also move those players to another team....

Ike is a nice piece for the pacers, but they have really done a terrible job with their talent lately i am shocked they passed on lowry and marucs williams in this draft.....

Pietrus becomes expendable for the warriors now i would love to get that kid

Larry's next moves:

- get rid of Jermaine O'Neal, Ike Diogu & Jamaal Tinsley
- target Pau Gasol, Mike Miller & Kirk Hinrich

hmm, anyone sensing a pattern here?

I have a feeling Indiana did this trade for chemistry issues - SJax is crazy and Al Harrington is selfish. They're great talents, but to my mind, even more disruptive personalities than a guy like Marbury.

I think Indiana lost on the talent end of things in this deal but will make improvements chemistry-wise. GSW is a collection of crazy scoring headcase wings at this rate: BDAvis, JRich, SJax, Al Harrington, Pietrus. Is Don Nelson trying to collect all the wings in the league?

I feel sorry for Al Harrington. He wanted to return "home" after making the mistake of signing with the NBA Siberia that is the Hawks and now Bird ships him off to Oakland.

Because the Atlanta model has proven to be so successful.
Golden State does have a nice collection of knuckleheads though, do they? And that includes the coach.

not for nothing, but their first game with all those players will be against us on saturday night. not good b/c they'll be superpumped and teams that usually make trades win those first home games.

let's offer up Frye to GS for Harrington... he can come back to play near home & for the coach he loves.
