I don't buy the "quiet" 20-10 theory. It goes back to the Sprewell/Houston comparison I made a long while back. Maybe if Houston scowled, sported cornrows, and maybe had a tattoo, he'd have gotten more respect as a player.

It seems that it's not enough to put up numbers - I guess Curry also needs to scream, wave his arms, and work on the facial expressions every time he dunks.

Production is production, especially in a closely contested game.

Frye could probably be putting up Curry-like numbers if he were given similar touches and minutes.

Tim Duncan works quietly too. So what?

I think most sensibile fans like all three of those guys, but there are always going to be some guys who blame Curry for last season and the #2 pick Chicago got. And the point of this thread, I think, is that Curry has these ridiculous expectations placed on him because of the nature he arrived here and what we gave up to get him - which a lot of Knicks fans will tell you was Oden before we even know whether Oden is coming out this season. It's incredibly unfair to Curry even to blame him for last season and takes blame off the no.1 culprit for the record - the despicable Larry Brown who tanked the season to try and get power from Isiah. These same people still defend Larry and my only guess is because they like the fact that Larry's sole goal here last season was to make Thomas and Marbury look bad to get them out of town. Oh well, I guess everyone is going to have to come to terms with the facts that Larry failed and Isiah is not as bad as they want him to be.

Frye does get compared to Bynum though and there are still some people who will tell you with a straight face they'd rather have Bynum than Curry or that they'd rather have Bynum and Tyrus rather than Eddy and Frye. This is easy to do, because it's easy to imagine a dream team where nothing can go wrong, rather than deal with the reality of a decent team that's getting better slowly but surely.

And that my friends, is the word.

Well, to DJ's defense, it was a quiet. He didn't get alot of his points from dump downs, he scored alot from drive and dishes, rebounds, and having good position and getting a good pass. But I am not sure if DJ is saying his points were quiet in the way that many try to downplay the points of other players they don't like for example SAR, or "fill in the blank"bury.

There were many reasons we won this. Curry scored throughout, Marb's made some big buckets in our droughts and kept us in it. Lee and Balk played good pressure d, and kept balls alive for us, and Craw finished them off. Often people like to give individual props to players the like and discredit others they don't like, but this is a team game, no one player ever wins the game for us.

I like the intensity Curry is showing, and it's fun to see someone getting better at the things he needs to get better at. How about that backdoor pass to the cutter for the easy lay-up today? That was NICE.

I don't think we can rule out his at least becoming a "useful" defensive player. He doesn't dog it on D, he just doesn't know wher to be instinctively, yet. I think he'll improve.

Meanwhile, Frye was hot today, and I would have like to see him in there more. Jared Jeffries just hasn't earned the time he gets.

He played a good game game. He can get 10 rbs without even boxing out like today just because of his size and quickness if he pursues the ball. Please no more 3 or 4 rebound games. As for Frye, right now Curry's a better player than Frye and he's probably better than Frye will ever be. You still can't compare a 6th to a 2nd year player, though.

So if Curry is a role player than what is Frye?

Pax didnt want to trade him but the Bulls owner would not pay an uninsured contract. Pax was basically devstated the day the trade was made. Since then he has said multiple times the Bulls will never be contenders without a post game.

ironically, the Bulls are the team that traded 2 highly talented young low post players in Brand & Curry in recent years.

the point of this thread wasn't to single out Curry & discredit the other players who played well, just to get that straight... if you noticed i posted a thread to give props to both Jamal & Marbury too for their play yesterday.

& the reference to Frye wasn't meant to compare Curry to him... it was more of a reference to the much higher expectations placed on Curry over any of the other young players on this team, & the seeming lack of recognition that he gets from some of the posters here when he plays the way he did the other day... i thought the point was fairly obvious.
