now anji and sugar ray, you have said what you feel the team needs to improve or to make the team a title winner.

so frye, curry, lee - that's our core. the question is, can we get those pieces? and how? if our players aren't good enough to do it, then why would a team trade a player than can be good enough to help for one of our guys?

Draft them and trade for them, then grow them. If crawford hit .050 Percent of his shoots right now he would be that player. Or if Q lost some bulk but was the same player he would a better Shooting Guard. We still don't even know how good the players we got right now can be. Things are dynamic and change for year to year, this is what I think it is right now.

I dont know how you get a john stockton type player but if he is out there we muct find a way. In the meantime we use the draft and try to move our insnae contracts. My problem with Isiah is I dont think he trys hard to move our insane contracts. I think there are deals to be made to either get shorter contracts or same length contracts plus draft choices. I think the 1 year to prve his worth is stoppoing Isiah from working for our teams future
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

isiah has not made one trade that brought back same length or shorter contracts. do you think that would've started now? considering how dolan took away two "assets" in jalen and mo, it looks like he's not happy with the return on investment either.

Dolan shouldnt be happy. Isiah basically cost him 120 million dollars for Brown, Mo, Jalen, and Francis all to be dumped around a year later. Thats a lot of money for anyone to swallow. Isiah should be forced to trade Franbury for shorter contracts or the same length contracts plus draft picks in return. The goal should be to get younger, cheaper or both.

Would you give up a shorter contract and/or draft picks to get Francis on your team? That idea doesn't sound plausible to me. No one wants our vets.

I think Marbury, Q and Crawford are good players. I think right now(for Q and Crawford) they aren't the players I think we should keep with Curr/Lee/Frye as our core and we should start moving away from them.(Q and Crawford could still cjange alittle, marbury is a lost cause) In the next three years while Curry/Frye/Lee/Nate/Balkman are growing we should be adding the players they need. A PointGuard that can run the team, A reall small forward and A Shooting Guard. So over the next two years, I would start moving in their replacements so they are here when our core starts to hit it's stride.

Draft a Rush or Rudy this seasons draft, trade Crawford or Q in the middle of the next season and get in postion to MOve Marbury out and a Point guard that can use our core in. We can still win games and learn while this is going on, IMO.

Nobody trades or signs John stockton, they trade for a wife beater and and go to the top of their confernce.

how much will we win in the interim? 23 games? 33 games? 43 games?

do you have confidence in the curry/frye/lee treo in becoming good enough defensively to challenge?

and do you have confidence in isiah being the guy to carry out the plans you have just outlined?

Well to be truthful, if Isiah doesn't do this then he won't be here. Four or five years are really all I think a Gm should get(unless a guy is West or Phil) before what ever plan he has run it's coures. Marbury has been here long enough to know he will be gone after next season one way or another. So it's really isn't if Isiah will or won't do it, I think it will be done with a new GM or Isiah going out the door and that being the only thing he is allowed to do..

Sure in the right scenario:
1) A contender that loses their pg and has scrubs on 2 year contracts instead of 3.
2) A team that has scrubs on 3 year contracts and needs a pg gives up the scrubs and a late 1st round pick

These kinds of moves are made. Few players are untradable. They might be over paid garbage to us but other teams have their own garbage that is overpaid as well

Everybody is talking about how the Knicks need to get a point guard to run the offense or a star smallf forward. The problem with the Knicks isnt offense. They have ****loads of offense. They need some D, and they need it badly. LOOK at how many points the Knicks scored last night! And the problem is we need a John Stockton?? We need a coach who can make DEFENSIVE substitions for players who ARENT defending, just like he does for players who arent scoring. We have some defenders on our team! There are balanced lineups that you can put on the floor. He just didnt do it!

I know our standards are lower and we are okay with our team coming out flat on a regular basis but 3 times in the last 6 games?
I just hope that people will like me

I think this is a huge problem Bip. This team in general has set such a low standard, that Isiah is looking at this season as successful so far. Heck, why else would he not have a problem with a blowout loss to the Bobcats?

Newsday -
Isiah Thomas said "people inquired" about trading for Steve Francis, but "we were not trying to move him."

"I didn't realize what his state of mind really was," Thomas said of Francis. "He really wanted no part of us at that time. He was just in limbo, he didn't know if he belonged or if he was going to be moved on."
