fish, I said this before a long time ago. I don't think josh smith has star potential, but he does have the potential to be a very good player. I watch him a lot, he still can't shoot off the dribble hasn't gotten an ounce better over 2 years at that, his handle is still suspect as is his shooting, but I agree, he does three things very well. Block shots, dunk and he is not a bad rebounder at all...
I would take him if we could get him for sure..
as much as we can dog our backcourt they do create a lot of easy looks. Smith doesnt have Marbury/Crawford or as good a passing team as we have. I think that would help. That whole team just seems to be 1on1 BB.

I would trade Nate and Frye for Josh in a New York minute(give or take 59 seconds).

I think people like this guy for all the wrong reasons and that he wouldn't look as goo if hedidn't play in basically much like the 80's Nuggets with tHe coaching drawing a basketball court and saying,"This is out of bounds and this is in bounds.............. go play".

Idk Anji, the guy is a freelance block artist, just the type of guy we need. Plus he's an athletic freak that is great at nothing (besides blocking shots), but does everything pretty well.

Isiah would obviously love to get him.

I'd give up Frye and Nate for him.

A frontcourt of Eddy, Lee, and Smith might be dangerous in 3 years.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

There is no way I would trade Curry right now. If anything I would love to put a player next to him like Josh Smith that plays defense and can block shots.

I can't see why people still don't say this kid has star potential.......

You look for progress in a player, and progress in atlanta is something to marvel at, especially from a player that is really one year away from finishing school, in reality.

Some people really see the need for the kid, but other posters anytime you mention giving up Frye who is a huge ***** out there everyone gets upset. When you look at the two, Smith has longer arms and jumps a foot higher so you are not giving up big for small and you are getting a better player with two way skills.....

04-05 9.7pts 6.2rbs 2.0blks 1.7ass
05-06 11.pts 6.6rbs 2.6blks 2.4 ass

06-07 12.6pts 8.3rbs 2.5blks 3.4ass

That looks like superstar numbers in the making, he has improved his rebounding, scoring and assists every year and is one of the games best shot blockers. Give him a couple of years he is going to have a good looking jumper.

Give Frye a couple of years he is still going to be a poor rebounder with slow feet and weak hands. You want to build towards a championship I think Smith/Lee/Curry is a fantastic front court.

Lee with an improving jumper, curry making an effort on the defense and an improving smith is very dangerous.....

he was a guy I harped a lot on this offseason and suggested a Nate + Frye trade for him. I pretty much got lamblasted.

What do you think of that trade now?

i've suggested the same exact trade numerous times... he makes alot of sense for this team, if ATL is willing to deal him that is... definitely WOULD NOT trade D Lee to get him though, but Frye & Nate i give up in a heartbeat.

We don't need this on our team?

Josh Smith had 18 points, four boards, three assists, five steals and seven blocks as the Hawks held on to beat the Celtics on Monday.

If the guy is available we should be at the front of the line.

Josh Smith is about as likely to be traded as David Lee is, meaning not likely. These guys are the heart and soul of their teams. Why would they trade him?

There were rumours that Atlanta was looking to trade some of their frontcourt talent since they have so much of it.
