The bottom line is that in order to become a true threat two things have to happen.

1.) Eddie has to continue to improve. The day we traded away unprotected lottery picks was the day he became our franchise player. Our hopes ride on Eddie and everyone knows this. Not sure why it becomes news everytime someone writes about it. If he becomes a star, we become good. If he stagnates, so do we. What's the mystery?

2.) Because Eddie is our hope, we must build accordingly. We must target players that compliment his skills and make his game easier. In turn as he improves he will make those role players better as well. This includes a young PG that can take over when Marbs moves past his prime(so we aren't caught off guard for the inevitable). A rebounder at the PF position, which we may already have. An interior defender that can shut down opposing centers and allow Eddie to focus on O. And true dead eye shooters to spread the floor. It was rocket science when I brought it up during the pre-season. It was grounds for dismissal from the Knickfan kingdom. Now it's become obvious. If we continue with a "plan" and build we will improve. If we committ the mistakes of the past and focus on playoffs today, then we will level off like we have done many times in the past.

Just like the players hold our future in their hands by eliminating their excuses and just playing ball. Our front office holds our future in their hands as well. Right now we are mediocre with a promisign young group. This is not news. What will be news, is the Knicks actually sticking to a plan.
I just hope that people will like me

What exactly is wrong with the team showing growth in what amounts to year two of the NON H2O and KT Era? Some of us seem to forget that we just added many of the key players on this team, so in fairness, this team is making VERY GOOD progress for a team that relies on so many young and developing players and especially coming off the disaster of last year.

Curry, Frye, Lee, Nate, Balkman and Collins seem to be improving, even if at different levels.

Q and Jared are nice additions in the last year +. Steph and Jamal also seem to be rounding into form and playing better team ball.

You have to crawl before you can walk and certainly walk before your running, so why not give this team a break and recognize the positive things that have started to take place after a brutal start to the year and a horrendous season last year. It's not hard to imagine this team being a top team in the East at some point. To me a lot of it will rest on TIME played together. We will likley need to add a key reserve, but overall we'll be developing from within.

If we make the playoffs and have to play the Cavs in the first round, is everyone quaking in their boots? A 99' style playoff run, should we get in, is not out of the question in this Conference.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

in the east, it's anyone's game. we make the playoffs, we can make a run. but so can any other team.

but if shaq and wade are healthy, nobody is beating them barring some sort of trade (i.e. kg to the bulls).

and if miami doesn't make the finals, nobody in the east is gonna win more than 1 game vs. the west in the finals.

And if it works out the other way, as I expect it to, will you be out in front of the eating crow line?

I just don't understand why you're interested in people eating crow. I'll gladly eat all the crow in the world if the Knicks and Isiah pull this thing out because I want the Knicks to be a contender, but the fact that people will have to send thank-you cards to every person that they had a argument with is a little disturbing.

I'll be here with the shovel Isles...Only Mart and Andrew will change that...Get ready to open wide and rejoin your friends in the NJ Nets forums...

The sad part is that you already think we're at a point where people should eat crow.

Let me guess, your criteria is going to be 24 wins.

It's not that big a deal bro, but in the face of obvious progress, many here a still chiming how bad the Knicks are and we are not building towards anything...They have even gone so far to say Curry's numbers are somehow "fake or inflated and just plain a fluke"...I read this...So yeah, I look forward to pointing how wrong you guys were the first opportunity I get because Isles and the bunch just don't let up....

why when the knicks reverse their fortunes and start taking steps towards respectability, (which is part and parcel to a rebuilding campaign) there is now all this talk about championships? This is a young team, its not as if this roster has peaked.

Because stating that they've reversed their fortunes is very debatable.

ok.........well then lets fast forward the movie so we can get to the end. I dont know how to accurately predict how the future will shake out.

I see three great building blocks in Lee, Frye, and Curry. If we cant agree that there are some positives to be extracted from a team with 3 big men, all under the age of 25, who are playing well and amassing wins, then I'll just quietly get up from the table.

Debating where we are going from here is fine, but I think all this "championship" talk, at this time, is disingenuous at best.

When we get to 24 wins which I predict will happen before Feb
hits then we can all proclaim LB to be the biggest Snake of all time.

Are you serious?? A scare??

How about we become a really good team that mediocre teams hope to put a scare into?

I'm already on record, 3 years ago back to the MSG boards, as saying that the best we can hope with Isiah is mediocrity and one and done. You're using that purgatory benchmark as some kind of pedestal.

You don't get credit for taking a team from mediocre to laughingstock and back to mediocre.

Good post and I agree. There are some building blocks there but work has to be done. It can still go either way at this point. We are mediocre. With the moves of teh past we will stay mediocre. But if we stick to a plan and continue to build around the youth on the roster and make adjustments, who knows where we can go. It's tough to tell. My lack of faith in Isiah's ability to make the correct trades and signings does not have me optimistic but there is no reason to say that the possibility for growth on this team is not there.
I just hope that people will like me

If you ran the team, is that really what you would do or would you tear down everything and start over? (I think most know I'd do the latter.)
