The Knicks have NEVER done well on West Coast swings. Even in the Ewing era, that was always our achillies heal. I think it is for most East Coast teams anyway.
I don't quite get the whole 5-1 expectations from some (was it DJ?). I think 2-3 was a more realistic goal, and 3-2 would have been nice.
DJ didn't say he expected the team to go 5-1, he said they HAVE to go 5-1 because of the upcoming schedule after the west-coast swing.
I stand corrected then. Yet, that's still pretty lofty expectations for a mediocre team, at best, right now.
The next 3 games are all winnable, then we play the Wiz, a inconsistent Nets team, and two other pretty mediocre teams in Indiana (who is better than us) and a very beatable Miami team. Then the Suns (probably an L, but we've been surprised before) and the Heat again, the Bucks on the road, the Lakers and the Bobcats.
That isn't THAT bad of a schedule after the West Coast swing, but I could see it going either way. This team is an enigma, and I don't think any of us can make any really viable predictions about how they will perform. They have shown the ability to play well at times, and other times look lost and hopeless. Which one will show over the rest of the month? I say proabably both. Hopefully more of Dr. Jeckle than Mr. Hyde, but you never know...
