Knicks as a team get alot of there shots Punched. IT's really that simple. We ether ask Curry or Frye to score over three people in the paint or the other players don't want to shot, drive into the teeth of the D and get their shots punched. YOu can't use the Knicks as an exmaple....

Bad defensive teams need shot blocker to recover from some portion of defensive blunders.
Good defensive teams can win without true short blocker but bad team has little chanse
I think that us having no short blocker is a good thing - this makes more clear which ajustment we need to make to start moving in right direction.

Okafor's blocked shots were a total nonfactor. The Knicks were practically tied at the half and although they went on to lose Okafor's defensive play was very overrated.

The perimeter defense or lack thereof was a bigger factor.

Reagrdless the team was still hanging around with pathetic perimeter play until the middle of the 4rth qrt. Keep telling yourself whatever comforts the soul. Can't have it both ways people.

Most of Okafor's blocks were in the first half. Most of Curry's points were in the second half.

Okafor had about 6-7 blocks in the first half and we were down 1 at half. Carrol, Anderson and Felton went nuts in the second half. Game over.

Answer this ? If Okafor wasn't blocking all those shots in the first half and the Knicks converted their offense in the paint more and got into a rythm could the team have been up in the first half maybe as much as double digits?

Exactly Okafor anchored the paint until his team found a serious grove offensively in the second half. If he doesn't, his team is down maybe as much as double digits playing the catchup game on the road, which is difficult to do.

True is making some very good points. Having shot blocking is one of those things that can tilt the favor of the game maybe 3-5 points a game, on average. In the NBA, this is huge, since many games end with a team losing by a relatively small margin. Those who are making it sound like blocks have little or no impact have some explaining to do.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I don't thiink so. The run at the end of the half really wasn't the result of the blocks.

Don't get me wrong, the blocks were impressive, but I don't think they were critical to the outcome.

It's like if a guy comes in here and gets 15 steals or 20 assist, yeah players having ungoly totals in those areas of the games are goingto be on the winning. But there is a difference between saying it helps and that's why they won.

1/10 S.Dalembert 3 blocks=knicks win
1/3 J.Przybilla 3 blocks=knicks win
12/20 E.Okafor 3=knicks win
12/18 A.Kirilenko 4=knicks win
12/13 J.Smith 4=knicks win
Z.Ilgauskas 3=knicks win
A.Mourning 4=knicks win
R.Gay 4=knicks winb

Yeah but the games in which the Knicks lose there are more of them against teams that had a player(s) getting 3blks or more. I believe the record is just above .500 just like Curry's 20pts+ is barely above .500(11-9).

Of their 22 losses so far 12 of them consist of a player(s) getting 3blks or more. Of their 16 wins 8 of them consist of player(s) getting 3 or more blocks. This comes to (12-8) record, in which blks greatly contributes to wins vs losses.

Keep stroking your conscience though.

My opinion on blocked shots:

If Curry, Frye and/or Lee were great shotblockers, Isiah and all your Isiah lovers wouldn't be saying how overrated they are.

Personally I think having an intimidator in the middle can be a huge help, especially on a team with guards that can't defend penetration. As Knicks fans we should all remember what a difference it was in 94 and 99 to have Ewing and Camby protecting the paint.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
