Of course we would prefer someone younger but if there is a 26 year old Ray Allen, or younger out there were not getting him!

We all know this team is not balanced and a striking need is a real 2 guard who can shoot!

I do not believe that Crawford is a similiar player to Ray Allen personally, but if you think he is when he his ON, cool, but the problem is Crawford is only ON for a quarter or 2 of a game at most and then the rest of the time he is killing the offensive flow. We need more consistency and Ray can be ON for 10 game stretches.

I am just trying to figure out a way to improve our team in the present WITHOUT sacrificing away our future in a realistic way and I believe this is it! If we could get Allen without giving up Lee, Curry, Balkman, and Maybe Jeffries and Q we would have to do it!

We have to many guards that deserve playing time and need to thin it out and settle on a shorter rotation.

I also believe that Allen's contract is up the same year as Marbury's but I may be mistaken.

I personally like Steve Francis(if healthy) more than Marbury and wonder why everybody has giving up on him but I'm not sure if Isiah will ever put Steph on the bench or get rid of him! I would love
C Curry
F Frye
F Jeffries
G Allen
G Francis
Starting lineup with
Steph
Lee
Q
Balkman
Off the Bench
and maybe we even add Danny Forston in that trade and he bang around for 10 minutes off the bench!

You can not tell me that that team would not be a top 4 or 5 team in the east this year! This will give us another year or 2 until we put the team in the hands of the youngin's! Our young guys have to get used to winning sometime! Do you understand the importance of getting a playoff series or 4 underneath there belt is for the future?

Ray had like 28 or 29 last night in his first game back!

If not Ray Allen what 2 guard would we have a realistic chance of aquiring that would make this team as good as the one above without giving up our KEY pieces?

How about Allen and Nick Collison for Francis, Nate, and Frye?
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

I completely agree with the Craw, Nate and rose (It Works) deal for Ray. I understand the whole youth movement but we need a solid Vet mixed in. Nobody has every won with just young players. Plus we have way too many guards. This would Balance our team out.

Plus I made this trade in NBA Live (XBOX 360) and the Team plays well together.

Ray Allen is a guy that teams like the Rockets should be targeting (w/T-Mac & Yao out w/injuries & their team hanging on the precipous of making or missing out on the playoffs)

the Knicks are a team that needs to keep building for the future... Ray has maybe 2 good years left in him before his game starts to deteriorate due to the lagging injuries & mileage on his legs imo... his contract expires after the 2010 season (1 year longer than Steph or Francis)

there's no way i give up Frye & Jamal to get him... if you could get him for Francis or Marbury & Chicago's pick, i might do it... it would be worth the 1 extra year in salary in that case... otherwise, i'll pass.

this team doesn't need ray allen. we need a collection of (preferably young) defensive role players, at PG and PF/C, and a distributor (also preferably young).

that said, if we get ray allen for a package that centers around marbury or francis and doesn't mortgage the future, why not?

Ray Allen is the exact type of player we need RIGHT now! Especially with our division the way it is!

We have a nice combination of younger players already. There is probably no chance that we get rid of Francis or Marbury let alone both of them. Therefore while you have them on your team you have to try and make a run at it! Any Playoff experience is valuable for our young guys.

You can say trade any vets for younger players etc etc but the reality is you need a nice combination of both. Look at Charlotte and Atlanta full of young talent but going nowhere anytime soon.

This would give us a 2-3year period where we would be in the thick of the playoffs every year and we would still be developing our future in Curry/Frye/Lee/Balkman and anybody else you would like to put in our future category.

Then you draft accordingly. If it's a young stud PG, a rugged shotblocking PF, you add that as we go along.

You start a package around Crawford and Nate and do whatever you can without giving up Curry/Frye/Lee.

Maybe they take J James back(I doubt it) since they have no Centers.

I don't know but this is the exact type of move we need to make!

We have seen from these last few games that we need to stay with a 9 man rotation at most.

You rotate Curry/Frye/Lee at the 4 and 5. Lee can get spot duty at the 3 if needed. Doesn't really matter to me who starts but I do like lee of the bench better than Frye.

Then Jeffries starts at 3, Allen at the 2, Marbs at the 1 and then you have Q and Francis rotating in the back court and at the 3. Balkman can get a few minutes here and there!

We would be set for the next 8-10 years all in one nice move!

his contract is even more heinous than Marbury or Francis... how does that make sense for this franchise going forward?

I think you are right about that. Ray Allen is what could help the team today but the dudes contract is just too long.

Crawford is the man right now anyway. Craw is starting to understand the game more and like the thread I started, the dude is cold blooded. He is the knicks go to guy.
