If the rumors about the Clippers package then I'm really not sure why the Sixers would take this deal, the 2 picks they are getting from the Nuggets are not that good(the Nuggets own and the Magic pick) I guess the deal creates alot of cap-room for the Sixers though.

Yes and no about the cap room. Not until Webber is moved does that team have true cap flexibility. If you subtract A.I.'s salary for next yr the Sixers are roughly at $55mil instead of $74mil but they take back Miller's contract which will be $9mil next yr, taking their cap up to $64mil. Add the draft picks and possibly any signings barring no more trades they'll still be kissing Luxury Tax in the bunghole.

philly wasn't getting under the cap as long as webber was there anyway, but now, the summer of 2008, they have a BOATLOAD of cap room.

that team could be rebuilt by 2009.

To be fair to AI, he's a really good passer when he wants to be. He had a string of 30-10s earlier this year, and he's on a superior team now. And, also to be fair to him, this isn't the same AI who was talkin' 'bout practice - he has grown up a bit. Maybe, MAYBE, he'll actually defer.

that is a worthy trade for a player of Iverson's stature... Miller is a very good PG, & those 2 #1 picks should prove very useful to rebuild that franchise along w/their own top lottery pick coming up this season.

Anyway if all it took was an expiring deal and nate and a draft pick i would have done it in a heartbeat and then moved him right to Denver for Andre Miller and two picks which would have made us a better team and you get a player that is very tradeable around the league.....I am willing to bet you could move him to atlanta for a draft pick and then you would have had three picks in this draft.........which is why our expiring contracts would have been worth keeping.......

DENVER is now welcoming the biggest team of gangbanging thugs perhaps in the History of pro sports, and there salary situation is gettin up there with the knicks

Iverson
Jr. Smith
Melo
K-Mart-to bad he is injured would have loved to see him running with this team

DJ it's not as good as it appears to be. Miller makes essentially half of what A.I. makes. They aren't under the salary cap with this move. They need to make another move to avoid the Luxury Tax. They'll have 1 yr possibly of Cap relief from this trade if that.

The nuggets now have the league's top two scorers on the team. Explain to me how that's going to work out.

Yep, funny part is, look at this deal, Philly only needed two picks because they couldn't get an expiring out of anyone.

We probably could've given them Jalen Rose and a pick (or maybe Nate) and gotten AI. Not saying I would want Francis, Marbury and AI on the same team, but just sayin'.

Also, I bet TMS doesn't like the trade for Philly. He seems to hold Iverson a bit higher than most.

Solace, read my response above to answer your question... & i don't think i'm overrating Iverson when i say he's 1 of the top 3 SG's in the game... i think most of you are underrating him when you think of him as just some low FG% shooter who only gets his points because of his many shot attempts... he's alot more than that, & i bet if you asked any Philly hoops fan who watch him play everyday the same question they'd tell u the same thing.

as for what we probably could've gotten Iverson for, Jalen Rose's expiring contract & a late 1st round pick isn't even close to Andre Miller & 2 1st rounders, come on now... it's a moot point anyway because Dolan doesn't want to add any more albatross contracts, & rightly so... no use in complaining about it.

I guess we as fans should know if it will work considering we have a team full of chuckers right?

at least there chuckers bring something different to the table, they have a slasher and the best midrange shooter in the nba, one can play two guard positions and the other can't be stopped, actually you are not stopping either or them, and you can't double ai now because camby and nene can finish inside and melo with nail the jumper......

whereas we have the same player 5'7-6'5 that plays the same position that needs to constanly have the ball and they all look for their own shot......not giving up on steph yet he can still salvage himself

cap # for 2008/2009 with iverson is $45 mil.
subtract the $20 for iverson and add $10 for miller and they're looking at $35 mil give or take. and with the cap # going up every year, they should still have max cap room.

i think iverson + melo is a sound strategy. why?

let them both chuck it up b/c you have dirty work players underneath in najera, evans, nene, and camby - guys that board, defend and hustle. i think it's a sound strategy.

Collins would be a good pg for that team to have someone that is just going to play defense and not look for offense...

Iverson would have meshed great with jefferies, balkman, and lee

but that would be bird's rights so they can sign him after a free agent to go over the cap.
