I think foul trouble has "bedeviled" Curry more than anything else.

When Curry was having big games he was also grabbing rebounds, and blocking shots. The NBA is about adjusting and right now everyone is starting to double team him. Once his passing gets better and they get some easy shots EC will get one defender again.

There is less of a chance that teams will double Curry if Q is out their hitting his shots. So in a sense this frees up Curry to get one on one coverage.
