>>When do we get to have both Steph AND Curry have big nights on the same night?

A. When Marbury and The New Eddy get more comfortable, and more intuitive, with their recognition of defenses.

As it stands, David Lee does not suck and Channing Frye is a leader.

Renaldo Balkman is better than Rodman because he has more offense

yeah, I said it

i've been really critical of Marbs (justifiably so), but for 2 games at least he's shown some glimpses of his old self... last night in particular i thought he was a catalyst & really stabilized the team when Jamal was struggling w/his perimeter shot... Marbury penetrated into the lane & got D Lee & Curry some easy layups... even saw him trying to play some good defense.

could that talk w/Magic have made such a change in this guy's play? who knows... but i think Eddy Curry struggling the past couple games & the emergence of Marbury is no coincidence... i wonder if they'll ever both be able to have dominant games playing together the way a true 1-2 combination should? if i see that happen, then i'll give Marbury plenty of props.

Best Marbury quote not acknolowledged as a positive thing

"The fans were great," said Marbury, who has been booed repeatedly this season. "We played hard and we did what we were supposed to do and they cheered. Is (the booing) tough? Yes, it is tough. But they are booing you because they want you to play better."

You go Steph

^ So Marbury understands the booing, where some of the posters on this board do not.

I wouldn't trade Stephon Marbury anymore. This team has great pieces to build a nice basketball team and many that really don't fit. Stephon is none.

He is just that, Stephon Marbury. A guy very talented, not as "unselfish" as a Kidd or a Nash but a guy that can get you needed points, many assists and unstoppable games from time to time. He doesn't hurt this team as much as others that we still have.

He is not the leader of this team nor he needs to be anymore. Frye or Jeffries can handle that. Steph can just be the veteran presence we need as time moves on. We can't just go completely young with Nate, Balkman, Jeffries, DLee or Frye, and Curry. We need balance and Steph gives us that. Like Q.

Holy crap. Did Steph actually say that? The PR director must have gotten to him early!

Seriously, Finally he gets it. Hopefully it lasts another 57 games.

Frye? dude, the guy looks lost on the court on most nights & is as meek as they come personality wise... he'll never be a leader for this team.

the leaders on this team are Q, Jefferies & Malik right now... Francis has tried to be one this year, but it's hard to lead when you're not playing... D Lee will be a leader in the near future.

Great job by Marbs last night. I told you this guy didn't lose 10 steps overnight. Now the key for Marbs is to maintain it. We have seen this effort before. He has to realize that there will not be instant results. The fans won't instantly love him, but he will be applauded eventually if he gives the effort he's given the last 2-3 nights, every night. Let's go Marbs. No more relapses.

That being said, I'm sure we will be getting a relapse pretty soon.

I just hope that Steph brings this production on a more consistent basis. That'll kill 2 birds with one stone, endearing himself to the fans while silencing the haters.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Malik? Uhh you have to be part of the regular rotation to be a leader. As far as bench and lockerrroom prescence, do we have anyway of verifying anything at all?

no, but it's my best guess that if you asked anyone on that roster who were the leaders on the team, they'd name Malik as 1 of them... just my opinion... probably just as good of a guess as anyone who would say different... i don't much care for Malik's basketball skills, though he is a crafty defender & does make some big hustle plays when this team needs someone to step up, but i do credit the guy for being a positive influence on all the young kids & a good guy to have on the roster in a limited role.

TMS, I know not to get excited about this too. Point of this thread is that he'll gain my respect if he can step up during these tough times w/o whining or moaning or sulking and play hard and do things the way he needs to. Lets see if he can continue this, and lets see what he does when players start coming back.

i've seen Marbury play great for a stretch of several games, & act like a true team player... then he reverts back to his selfish Starbury persona... i won't be bamboozled again!

The problem with Marbs in the past has been the better he plays the more he thinks he's Starbury and the better chance he has of regressing to his selfish self.

Hopefully we can move beyond this and just get a mature adult this time.

totally agree Bip... this season he's been playing like crap so he's been humble... once he starts to play well, you'll see him get more full of himself... i can see things in his body language when he's on the floor that make me believe this to be true... like after he makes a shot & gets fouled he'll walk straight to the foul line & hardly acknowledge teammates who want to give him a pat on the head or looking for a high five, or he'll do the same while he's walking back to the bench if the Knicks are on a scoring run & the other team calls a timeout... i know this sounds kinda silly & insignificant, but i think it's a part of his personality that makes him seem so stand offish to the casual observer & maybe even to his teammates... he always acts like he's got this chip on his shoulder like he's above everyone else, & it's hard for him to shake... even afer that made layup last night, he had this look on his face like "PSHH, yeah that's what i thought... WHAT!" & ran straight to the lockerroom w/o even celebrating w/his teammates... this is a part of Marbury that i don't think will ever change.

He yelled at David Lee for missing one of his passes too.

If he produces like a 16million dollar player, the knicks will win.
