Has curry made progress?
Has qrich made progress?
Has lee made progress?
Has Francis made progress?
Has JJ helped?
Has balkman helped?
We compete now game in and game out. We did not last yeat. We still have a long wya to go but we are making some progress.

Here are my thoughts:

Curry is finally rounding into better shape with potential to show real progress.
Lee has a better FT %
QRich got healthy
Francis - same as ever
JJ - OK signing.
Balkman - Good draft pick.
The Knicks compete in about 1 and a half quarters a game, and the record shows it.

More:
Nate is still in highlight mode every once in a while.
Crawford has regressed back to a wild jumpshooter.
Marbury still doesn't get it.
Big Game has shown nil.
Jalen, MoT buyouts show me the organization still doesn't get it.
Frye was pressing when he played.

Overall, I don't count that as progress.

Even in your way of looking things I see 4 positive direction moves-2 negative direction moves and the rest just flat line
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

We are on pace to win 31 games.

One thing that really bothers me is the first place team in our division is on pace to win 35!

31 game pace is evident progress, but evidently we still suck. Its evident we are in the worst division in all of sports and perhaps look for a historical president.

While we are better this year, our division really offers not much in comaparative analysis. WE play our division more any any other teams.

ITs hard to get pumped.

But im still watching! Phuch you Dolan!

Hey, Nixon is BACK!!! The Silen Majority wants IT to stay the course, the silent majority wants wants us to stay with the good fight in Iraq. Nice.

Jalen, MoT buyouts show me the organization still doesn't get it.

martin, i actually think those 2 decisions showed me that they finally DO get it... no more taking on longterm salaries... try to get a hold on the salary cap going forward, & build up with youth... seems like that's what most of us have been wanting for the past several years.

if Artest came available for the price of an expiring contract, would you trade MoT's contract for him?

Long term salaries notwithstanding, it's about smart deals. Maybe Isiah is incapable of doing the smart deals so handcuffing him by buying out those contracts is a good thing, but I would want to see them at least available until the trade deadline date.

I guess what I don't understand why is this team judged based on last yr results vs the yr prior to? Larry was hired to change the course because there already existed major problems, he failed miserably. I think it's shortsighted to think some players wouldn't come back with improved games, but regardless my standard as a fan goes back before Larry. Do people realize the team is essentially pretending the yr before last didn't happen and everything started with Larry? Progress in the end is about Wins and Losses so IMO the team has to finish better than 33wins(+5to10gms) which was the win total from the 04-05 season. A new standard shouldn't be placed on a franchise because the players and coahces keep changing, especially when that standard continues to be lowered. Although this does seem to fit human nature in general.

obviously if Artest were available, you'd have to pursue it, but when the owner has decided that enough is enough & that he no longer wanted to take on longterm contracts for expirings, it represents a change in the overall philosophy of the franchise, that they'd no longer be pursuing the starphuch type move & would try to get the salary cap under control... that in itself represents a change in the overall mindset that we haven't seen here in NY for as long as i've been following this franchise.

Lowering our standards is the Knicks way lately. We went from championship contender, to a team that goes deep in the playoffs, to a team that has a shot to win in the first round, to a team that can be .500, to a team that just wants to make the playoffs, to a team that might threaten for a playoff spot, to a team that wants to improve on a 23 win total. This organization is an embarassment.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If I'm basing my judgements on last years debacle I have seen definite progress. What concerns me is that despite the debacle the progress is not at this point overwhelming. But why would I compare anything to last year.

Good post Seats.
I just hope that people will like me

It's kind of like a student who doesn't apply himself in class but wants his teacher to judge him based on different criteria from his other classmates. Take for instance each kid is judged on their intellectual and behavior application. In the case of the student that doesn't apply himself in either, he wants the teacher to adjust to what he feels is acceptable. In the beginning the student was a class clown, cursed like a sailor, never turned in his homework assignments, horrible in group settings, disrespectful, yada yada. Now the student currently isn't cussing and is at least writing his name on his homework assignments and wants to be acknowledged and approved for such changes.

If I'm the teacher I'd tell the kid "Look M*****F***** I'm tired of putting up with your Lazy A** Dispectful B******* ways and I'm going to continue to Flunk your B**** A** until you get with the program like the rest of my students."

Wins, losses and stats are only one way to measure progress.

I'd rather have 31 wins this year and see the foundation for a future championship contender than have more wins.

Now, I am not saying I think this- but I see progress- from the players, from the organization (in their buying out Mo T & Jalen Rose).

Aspects of life are like this too. I remember a friend bitching in high school (wow, long time ago), that he had a younger brother. So he had to get A's and high B's in classes. However, his brother was more of a slacker and routinely around the C or D range. So when his brother got, say a B-, it was a big deal and worthy of celebration, presents, etc... If my friend got a B-, he got ground. Same type of deal.

The Knicks right now, are that kid that's been getting C's and D's. We're getting way too excited about the occasional B- in a flood of bad grades. Just think, in three years, we might progress far enough to where we were three years ago. Now that's (NOT) progress!

Yep it's really sad and a lot of fans accept having their strings pulled. Not I captain I ain't no puppet. Anything at eye level of the 04-05 season is not progress and this team is staring it right in the face.

It's like going on a trip with plans to reach a destination, you waste a ton of gas because you got lost not following a map or asking for directions, you're totally off schedule and by the time the vacation is over you arrive right back at the starting point of the trip, never arriving at the destination.

Somehow though you are tapping yourself on the back because you got a lot of sight seeing done along the way.
