JJ wasnt ready yesterday. He ws not only rusty but the wrist seemed tender and he was worried about it. I was surprised he played so much and we dd not see balkman at all. I think JJ will help but his offense looked a bit erratic at times
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

You would think IT has a long term contract if JJ wasnt ready why would you have him play 30 minutes his first game back. I have watched him alot the offensive skills that he displayed last night is pretty much what you will see all year.

Jared Jeffries Offensively is about as good as Eddy Curry Defensively

ROFLMAO! I can tolerate poor offense more than poor defense, though.

Worthless signing, 5 years to play 4-5 every night, he is ben wallace offensively without the dunking, he just looks awful, i like the help d, but Balkman is already a better finisher, rebounder, and can do some things on the offensive, another pointless signing and long term contract

Before he even played a game I had my doubts. He's a decent rebounder and that's about it at this point.

bruce bowen, ron artest, quentin ross - 3 defenders (better than jeffries) but what makes them different from jared? they actually have some semblance of an offensive game. bowen can knock down 3's. artest can fill it up and quentin can hit midrange jumpers.

jeffries doesn't bring any of that to the table. right now, the guy should be a defensive rotation player off the bench.

i wouldn't care so much about his lack of offense if his defense was of the shut your man down variety, but it isn't even that... he's a decent help defender, but on the ball i happen to think Balkman is better.

The big difference is that I think Jeffries strength is as a help defender. He's a big guy who doesn't have the footspeed/lateral movement to be a top man-to-man defender, esp against smaller players.

Bowen and Artest are capable of giving a single player the lockdown treatment. I'm not sure Jeffries does that.

Regarding offense - he was a very solid offensive player in college and most scouting reports said that he was a solid mid-range shooter. Who knows what's happened to him. Maybe he doesn't stack up against the competition.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he's recovering from wrist surgery, so maybe he'll never have a pure touch this season.

That all said, I think he's a solid 4th big man/swing forward, but Balkman looks like he could develop into a stopper for the 2-3-4 positions. Plus... while he isn't much of a shooter (maybe the coaches have told him not to!), he seems to have better ball handling and passing skills than Jeffries and more of a nose (heh) for rebounding & loose balls than Jeffries.
