A Layden player back to save the Knicks? Is Weatherspoon coming in too?

we need to find the middle ground between a roster full of layden players and one of IT's boys. something like a houston-spree combination for the new millenium. sweet.

Speaking of the Houston-Spree combo.

Maybe a PG isn't that important after all or... Charlie Ward was THE MAN!

I always remember Ward making smart little plays.

When was the last time you've seen a Knicks guard make a play and go "Wow. That was smart!"

i loved the way the knicks were playing right before that keith van horn trade.

seems like isiah was cleaning house but i thought steph n keith and frank and keith played beautifully together

agreed... the team was finally showing good continuity & chemistry... i have no idea why Isiah decided to bring in Tim Thomas of all people, someone widely known as a lazy underachiever on the teams he's played on.

Ego. I think Isiah wanted to rid us of anything brought in by Layden. He also has a salvation complex where he feels he can save anyone.

Personally I think Isiah made one wrong choice. He listened to all the talk about how boring we were under Layden. He wanted to make us exciting a create a buzz. He thought NY fans liked and1 type players with great skills but didn't realize that we would sacrifice that in a minute for guys that will dive on the floor or start a fight with someone twice his size. Heck Charlie Ward was respected here and he couldn't even dribble between his legs. I think this was a miscalculation on his part. He thought if he brought a few young dunkers to the garden the place would be sold out long enough for him to decide on a real plan of action. Now he's learning the hard way that this isn't what New Yorkers are about. We will accept lunch pail guys with no talent over prima donnas with talent.
I just hope that people will like me

That was such a bad trade. I would've been content to be a playoff team for a few years and build a young group, while we had a few years to replace guys like Mutombo and Allan Houston, with less immediate pressure to do so. Instead, we went right for a slug like Tim Thomas and tore it all apart before it began.

Sadly, most supported that trade; I was not among that group. Sometimes it sucks being right.

I wish there was a feature on this board so that everytime there was a huge trade there would be a vote: Good move? Bad move? Don't know?

and we could bring it up or click on a poster's name and see their posting record.

Rules of this Board are ye listening?

I think some posters would be pretty embarassed about how often they've switched sides, so I'm not sure that's a feature everyone would like.

That being said, I agree.

Has anyone actually seen Frank play lately? Just curious to whether he did drop the weight everyone was complaining about in Chicago. Outside of numbers, does he look conditioned?

He looks pretty trim to mehttp://www.nba.com/dleague/siouxfalls/Skyforce_vs_Stampede-113006.html

Nice find. He looks to be in better shape than at any time during his stint with the Knicks, Chicago, or the Clips.

I recall Frank really frustrating Kidd in the Nets playoff series. Frank swiped the ball from Kidd as he was trying to setup and got an uncontested layup. If he had a season ending injury in our backcort I would bring him in, other than that I'd wait till next preseason.

What is the Frank Williams obsession. He was not very good 3 years ago. Why would he be better now?

I'm asking the same question. Now we want Mardy Collins starting? Has anyone seen him play?? (other than the 4 min garbage he's getting)

F.Williams steps to Kidd...one time....and he's a tough guy. ok....well. I'm not opposed to bringing F.Williams in if he IS playing well...but I would rather him take Collins place in the roster than Nate, Marbs or Francis.

Will it fix much? I agree that we need to move Steph and Francis but I don't think Frank will do anything. We need a franchise player and then we build around him.

Franchise player for the knicks should be in the frontcourt.

But I mention the name Frank Williams because he was the stabalizing force running the team when we went on the 4 game streak.

Frank was a well balanced guard, he defended, he could shake and bake and also hold his own getting to the rack creating.

The NBADL stats show he's doing well in all those areas.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

i liked how he was playing when given the chance to start (before the Marbury trade)... i thought he had some good potential to grow into that orchestrator that everyone wants, & he played some decent defense besides... after the Marbury trade, i think Frank let his game go to crap & he lost all his motivation to work hard... if he's working hard now to try & get back to the NBA, i wouldn't mind giving him another look.

He had talent but I thought he was just overly lazy, even when he was playing well. He was the type of player I hated.

hmm, i know he was pretty "cool" when he was on the floor (kinda like Ray Allen is in his demeanor, you know?)... i never really got the impression that he was lazy though... maybe i just never took the time to really focus on his play... he seemed to be a great facilitator on the fastbreak & made some really nice, flashy passes that got the crowd into the games... his length & size helped him out on defense too.

I remember those times and I remember saying that he would be hanging with Lavor Postell in under a year. I jsut didn't like his game. Wasn't impressed with any of it.
