I think its an ok comparison because both guys DO need to to be proven right at the expense of others albeit Bush is far more extreme
I can name 20 people like that! You know Kobe? He was extremely ego driven and had to be proven right. Is he like Isiah Thomas! I'm surprised guns.

I don't know if you can really compare them personality-wise or not but even if you can, the stakes or so much higher with Bush.

I see more of a parallel between Dolan and Bush but still, let's not even go there. Bush is resonsible for (conservatively) tens of thousands of deaths. There's just no comparison in terms of the impact. I hope this country never again elects a man like this president again. It has been a catastrophe.

I see what you're saying but its not a big deal. I don't think Briggs intended for it to be taken this way

Don't give me that line "you have no clue what you are talking about." Show me the same respect that I show you.
Please! Stop patronizing.
Briggs only made mention that they both are ego-driven and needed to prove to others that they are right.
This is exactly my point. You can only make mention anyone like that! Most of the people out there are like that! I know at least 20 ego driven people that need to prove to prove to others they are right! If I count this forum, 50% of the posters are ego driven and need to prove to others that they are right. Terrible analogy!
Bringing dead soldiers into this is uncalled for
Whenever you talk about Bush, you have to bring up Iraq, the unnecessary war and the toll! Its not uncalled for, its standard practice. Bring up Bush in a public forum and see if the issue of dead soldiers does not come up.

Briggs made NO mention of that and the only mention he made was that they were both ego-driven so the analogy fits, even if you don't want too because you don't like Bush's policies on Iraq. The fact of the matter is that they are both immensely egotistical and thats all Briggs was saying. The only reason that Iraq was brought up was because YOU wanted it to be brought up, it had nothing to do with Briggs post or the analogy he was driving at. The real crime here is that you are trying to twist words around and make it look as if others are saying things they aren't saying.

This idea that you have about HAVING to bring up Iraq when talking about Bush is absolute BS. George Bush doesn't need defending and shouldn't be defended, thats not my intention here. Just because you can't control yourself when his name is mentioned and you can't have a civil conversation about a subject unrelated to his policies in Iraq, when it's warranted, doesn't give you the right to start telling Briggs that Isiah Thomas hasn't killed soldiers when Briggs was talking about something absolutely totally unrelated to that.

Its not a big deal to you but it might be a big deal to others. If you cannot see that, you are not showing others respect. Especially if you call them they are overreacting.

That analogy fits anywhere! Kobe is just like Bush and Isiah! This thread title is totally misleading!
The real crime here is that you are trying to twist words around and make it look as if others are saying things they aren't saying.
Am I the only one saying this? You cannot possibly accuse me of twisting words when others feel the same way. Nice try though.
Just because you can't control yourself when his name is mentioned and you can't have a civil conversation
This is the second time you are telling me I am over reacting. First time was before I said anything to you! Now you say I am not civil. I'm not responding in kind but I am just pointing it out to you.

if it truly bothers some people than I guess you guys are right. I just dont like when people make a big deal out of nothing especially because they have a bias towards the original poster regarding the state of the Knicks. But after finally reading all the responses I see why people are offended and now I agree that comparing him to Bush way offbase

I'm sure we'll find something to argue about even then.

yea because i didnt see it as a big deal at first but apparently it is since 90% of the posters agreed that the comparison is offbase and even the ones who arent biased towards briggs so you can tell they are legimately bothered by the comparison

I still don't understand how it bothers people when Briggs says "Isiah Thomas is just as egotistical as George Bush" but hey, whatever floats your boat.
