How's Mardy Collins doing?

That was the gamble. He could and should have had Williams and Balkman.

And you dont know that at all. Im sure it crossed his mind that he could have had both, and he decided it wasnt wrth the risk. Considering that he had a lot more information about other teams intentions than any of us, Ill assume that he made the right decision.

thank you... if the player you want is on the board, you take him... you don't run the risk of losing out to the next 8 teams that were going to pick after you until your turn to pick came up again... Isiah took Balkman who he wanted & i'm glad he did... i really like his game.

Bonn - The Poseidon Adventure was a disaster

Balkman is 6'8 with skillz and determination.

I'm curious to see how the dude develops.

I don't care who picked him or where he was selected or how much money he will be paid

A Little Help

Some people would rather play Amateur GM until they are purple in the face, rather than watch the subtle growth of an actual player from night to night.

Rather than cheer a team through thin and thick.

Rather than celebrate a win they would rather diss the people in charge

I could give a ratts butt about Isiah or Marbury... or speculation about who would be the better head coach or GM or team president... or director of marketing for that matter.

I want the Knicks to move the basketball without hitting the floor

I want players to play with passion

I want The Garden to be loud again

I want them to win

sheesh

I like the Balkster. He's the type of player this team needed.

The jury is still out on Marcus Williams. Remember when Steph was a hot PG prospect? Marbury has turned me off to scoring PG's. I think Mardy Collins might eventually get a chance to be a heady floor general for us one day. Who knows?

And what if another team did take Balkman? There'd be a thousand second-guessers on this site saying: "See, this is the kinda guy Isiah should've taken instead of taking a scoring PG when we already had tons of them. Why can't we get steals like that?"

Yeah, I think Balkman was a steal. Maybe I'm a fool, but I really think that.

In a league where scorers are a dime a dozen, and the new rules and the new ball totally favor scoring -- guys that can make a difference off the ball with their hustle and defense are at a premium.

So I leave you with this one question...

When we need energy, when we need stops, when we need a guy who will do whatever it takes to win --- WHATCHA GONNA DO, BROTHER!?!?! WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE BALKSTER RUNS WILD ON YOU!?!?!?!?!

I agree. You have to go for the player you believe in. I don't get how some people seem to KNOW that he'd be available at 29.

Balkman definitely was a good pick but he needs to develop a jumpshot to get to the next level. If he can do that, the sky is the limit for the kid. Right now, he cannot really use his driving ability because players play off of him. Once he can hit the outside shot, he will become unstoppable. The blocks this guy is getting are amazing. It is like the opposing player is 2 feet from the rim and about to make the shot when Balkman just appears out of nowhere and blocks it. He is fun to watch.

Well said, don't look at drafting any other way. You get the player YOU want, not the player the fans or press wants. Don't take chances. Look at what Balkman has been doing! He has been defending great for a rookie, isn't fouling out, is rebounding and blocking shots! I'm happy. Collins can play defense? Have you heard of Williams D? Collins is the better defender, not even close. Give him some minutes, he might be the better TEAM player, though Williams has a great future (just not at defending).
