Sugarray: You are so on point with this discussion. Its something I've been saying for a long time. Its beyond just booiong the Knicks, its the NY fan in general. I remember the Mets fans booing Mike Piazza the first day he put on a Met-uni at Shea. Didn't even give the perennial allstar and future hall of famer a chance. NY fans in general are very obnoxious. The attitude is (we don't care that you may have put up hall of fame numbers in Seattle, etc, you have to earn the right to wear our uniform).

Then you have so many media outlets (talk show radio, over a dozen different news papers) and it makes it hard for the average fan to have their own thoughts. Alot of times the fans react based on what a columnist said, or a radio show host. This is more than just the booing of Marbury or Isiah. This has gone on in all sports for players who certainly didn't deserve it.

I'm a Mets fan. I hated Piazza, that no defense-playing-all-bat-no-glove-glorified-DH-in-a-catcher's-outfit-can't-throw-out-a-baserunner-if-his-life-depended-on-it-wannabe-catcher.

Dont forget to add (hall of famer) at end of that. Look, I'm not a Mets fan at all, but even as a Yankees fan, I would scratch my head at the booing of a guy I would have loved to see in a Yankee uniform in his prime. BTW, its not like Piazza raised his hand and asked to be traded to the Mets.

How many game winning hoemruns did he hit for you guys? Instead of worrying about what he can't do, how about paying attention to what he could do.

I agree that booing in NY can be OBNOXIOUS. I have never personally booed anyone--but that's how it is. That being said, I've never heard of this discussion in 30 years until recently. I watched the game--I was not there but I agree with the booing. People PAY a lot of money to see a good product. To continually fall behind double-digits--- so easily--- so early at home will be met with a response after 5-6 years on the downside. The fans at the Garden will light up at ANY positive point--and they did so even behind 20+ points. But the lethargy that leads these games into huge deficts in the 1st and 2nd Q isn't going to be tolerated. My suggestion to the NY Knick players is play hard and well for 48 minutes. They've played porous, ineffecient and lethargic 1st halfs at home. I think that they OWE the paying customer the full 48 minutes at this point. That's business

People are paying good money to be in those seats. Regardless how the team feels, if they are giving a subpar effort, the fans have to let them know about it. This is supposed to be New York Knicks basketball, with pride and passion and if the players cannot put forth that effort, then they will get booed. Plain and simple.

He is a hall of fame hitter. He would have had the exact same impact on a game from the DH spot.

well if you look at what is happing to A-rod, you don't have to look any futher then that. I think it would great if we won the next three or two on the road...... maybe the knicks fans who go to the garden will change alittle, even cheer alittle to bring the team up in the first half.

I know, Im a hopeless dreamer...

Patrick asked to be traded in part because he was fed up with it. Winfield hated it. Does some of them not complaining publically about it make it ok? It means they didnt want to make it worse. Few respond with better play. Often players play better outside of NY because of it. Ive been reading a book about behind the scenes with the Rangers. Many Ny athletes in the book behind the scenes showed their contempt for NY fans not just the Rangers.

Hey if some Ny fans want to act like ignorant tamper tantrum 2 year olds thats fine. If they want to make us have a home court disadvantage fine. Booing makes players tiogght and afraid of making a mistake. If fans want to be PART of the problem go for it. Dont complain when it takes another 33 years to win a championship

So what your really saying is that the Knicks haven't won because the fans boo and not because the players on this team suck.

i think you're taking this thing and going nuts with it.

like others have said, they play hard and smart - no boos.
they play like crap - boos.

it ain't that deep.

now, i'm patrick ewing's biggest fan. not for nothing, he did make guarantee after guarantee and failed to back them up. often ending in dissapointing playoff losses. and he didn't have a rep for hitting big shots down the stretch of games. dude was great, but you can see why fans booed.

this is ny, totally different animal. if you don't think we're the "smartest"...well whatever. i think this is all BS personally and takes away from the real problem, the team on the court has some mental fragility issues. these are guys you don't win with. and i'm not talking about championships, but just win in general.

That's the same misinterpretation Briggs kept making. All he's saying is booeing makes matters worse, causes players to hate playing for NY, and probably deters good FAs from ever coming here.

The booing didn't stop Allan Houston, Larry Johnson and Chris Childs from signing here.

Second of all, the Knicks haven't had a chance to sign a good FA since then so the booing has had absolutely zero affect on the signings of anyone.

right or wrong, i'd bet a testicle that if dolan sent isiah and marbury packing today the boos would cease tomorrow.
fans want to watch basketball, not the circus.

Couldn't agree more! I think the main reason why fans are booing so much is due to Isiah and Steph still being apart of this organization. I think a great deal of fans (contrary to what your read on message boards) approach this season a bit pissed off on how the things that have taken place. Most Knick fans wanted Steph and Isiah out of the organization and see what a cancer they are yet. Both of these guys make it hard for fans to want to root for them or the team. Not to mention the patience of the fans is at a all-time low with this team.

Exactly, it's not they can't do it, but why would they in they cause the team to be tight??? People keep saying the team looked lazy, then they point to the usually wiping boy Curry. Fatso can't hold the ball, fatso can't get a shot down. But when Lee played in the first quarter, same thing happen and he turn the ball over 7 times(the whole nights total). Rose came in and fumbled the ball and missed layups. Q was losing rebounds all over the place. Nate looked dead and didn't even finish the game because he looked so bad......... NAte, NATE PEOPLE, THIS NEGRO WOULDN"T CARE IF HIS MOTHER WAS GUARDING HIM, HE WOULD GO HARD AND DUNK ON HER!!!!! And he EVEN LOOKED TIGHT.

You can boo, but what's the point. The team has won half it's road games, but you are booing because of what happened last year................ real smart.

No let's cheer when the team is playing tight and making little mistakes when they go down ten, that's when you try and pick them. You know like they were playing at home. Like you have seen them play hard and win before, why boo them because the team is down 11??????

People started booing after they went down 15, by not playing ANY defense, and turning the ball over by playing like they did not even want to be there, especially Marbury. Nobody booed up until the point it became obvious the starters did not come to play once again.

And Eddy fing Curry deserves every boo he gets. I have never seen a more talented player show less effort than he does. This is worse than TT! Who btw did not get booed nearly as much.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
