1st of all I'm not happy with how Steph is handling all this. HOWEVER, to start this game there were equal culprits in the team falling behind by so much. It wasn't Steph alone. Just look at all the point blank misses by Curry, TO's by other guys on the floor, lack of motion, lack of effort on D. Those things are about more than just one guy.

The thing is tho, that this is starting to have an effect on Steph mentally. I saw him clearly not trying to be involved on offense other than passing the ball. He had REALLY BAD body language and that's just unacceptable.

The problem is that there will be no deals for Steph! Let's just get that straight. The Knicks can't make a trade of a player performing this poorly. So let's just get that out of the discussion. What we have to do is figure out what to do about his continued problems at home. How can we get him to just play, like Francis has been doing. He's running the offense, but also finding ways to score and be aggressive. I see no reason why Steph can't do the same thing. It's up to him to figure that out and get a feel for when to pass and when to go. He's not going anywhere, so Isiah and Steph have to work this out.

the marbury phenomenon is only just becoming apparent to you, but many of us believe it's been lurking behind the scenes for years now. and if it hasn't worked itself at by now, under his dream coach, and under a system you insisted would benefit the guards most, it's probably not gonna happen soon, or with any kind of finality.

he's too much of a distraction, always has been, and at every stop in his career. do you get that now?

get him out with a bad trade (just don't add payroll, youth or picks) if you have to, or waive him.

Marbury needs to approach the Knicks with a buyout schedule that has a very long time horizon so it won't be as onerous.

Marbury would be just fine if he just had a decent coach and some decent team mates. He has had terrible luck in that regard. He just keeps getting traded to teams that suck. Poor guy.

You want conspiracy theory? How about this: Isiah is sitting Marbury and playing Francis more to get Francis' value up...to land a sweet trade! (Y'all know I am pulling for Ray Allen!)

oohah

who you gonna add to make seattle interested?

Maybe Crawford? I don't know exactly, but Ray Allen is always rumored to be on his way out in seattle, so that might not be such a hard sell.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Fact is Steph is a bad teammate and the way the knicks acquired him is the same way we should trade him for Junk.

The curse would be off us and we can move on! Teams get a lil better when Mabel's son packs his bags
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

BasketballJones - I am thankful the Marbury Drama will play itself out within the month of December.

If, in fact, Isiah would trade his own Moms to make the Knicks better, Stephon has run up against another wall he will not be able to run around with a suspect attitude.

Francis
Balkman
Jeffries
Lee
Curry

earl, you have more lineups du jour than lb

but at least you'd have the team come out to some miles davis on the PA system and play as smooth as dizzy on the court.

dj - your report from the sacred section 404 was brilliant as usual. The fact you now provide tasy visuals to go along with your crafty writing tells me its only a matter of time before your page is available "by subscription only". dang.

My lineups du jour are the only way I can keep the faith. Not nearly the amount of faith you have demonstrated in showing up in The Garden... but riddle me this djman...

Did Steph REALLY sit on the Pine while everyone else was celebrating a run?

it was quite a sight earl. nate is leading the charge, everyone is up and cheering (malik, mardy, jerome, even cato). and steph is mired in his own misery with a towel over his head sitting.

nate the indominable showman

the comeback kid steve francis

the always spontaneous jamal crawford or

my personal extreme makeover choice

john chaney-hardened mardy collins?

Give it up already, Stephon is fine. He's working his way into playoff shape.

Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

I would have Francis as the starter and Marty Collins as his back up and let steph play shooting guard with Collins.

Collins needs to be in the rotation as does Balkman, both are 1st rd picks that brings something the knicks have lacked in the past.

Thomas did score points with his players for the decision. Several Knicks were upset that Marbury had not attended the morning shootaround. Others were disappointed that the point guard showed little emotion as the Knicks staged a fourth-quarter rally.

Not surprisingly, Marbury is not going to win any popularity contests in the locker room. There has been a growing divide among the players since last season, when Marbury and Quentin Richardson nearly came to blows at practice.

Richardson is a respected veteran and serves as a big brother to Jamal Crawford and Eddy Curry, two more players who wouldn't shed a tear if Marbury were traded. Of course, if Thomas wanted to trade Marbury it would be a tough sell. He is scheduled to earn $42 million through 2009

I think the tough love approach that Isiah is using is the only way for him to play this. When it comes to Steph, he can't appear weak. Steph has to realize this and not be so sensitive. In the end I don't believe that isiah is doing this to create a situation where he has to trade Steph. The thing is that we actually still NEED his input. This team would still benefit greatly if he can make the right adjustment to his game as Francis has. Let's not forget that there used to be huge questions whether Francis would be able to adjust his game. Likewise I still believe that there's a chance Steph will make a similar mental adjustment. I think Isiah is banking on that as the season goes along, but in the meantime he's not gonna pamper Steph as some thought he might. He's not gonna completely take him out of the picture either as some hope for.

Despite the record being the same as last year, you don't get the sense that the whole team is confused and nowhere close to getting it together. You clearly see that this team has much more fight in it and I think that is gonna prove to be a positive once we get fully healthy and if we can get Steph playing the way he should. Just remember how much more time there is left in this season and how last year when Steph had hit rock bottom he came out and had his best games of the year, before getting injured. If he does that this year, this team will finish the year strong.
