I think Steph is either injured or confused about his role. or both. I don't think you can have Steph and Steve on the same team.

Well in this Boston game it seems like Steph got in line and came out running the offense and Defense properly. I have no problem with any of our Guards as long as they stick to the System and play TEAM ball.

Steph was hareble.
he was lucky to get in foul troubele and get out for legit reason.
2 points, 3 asssts and 2 rebounds - WOW what a geme!

Steve wos decent zo

I agree and I like Francis better than Marbury (Not that I really like either of them.) but the reason people have been proposing Francis trades is b/c he is much much easier to trade than Marbury. He's still explosive and can still jump through the roof (Well, kinda) and has shown a semi decent attitude. Plus his contract is smaller in dollar amounts. Meanwhile, it seems like Marbury is about to blow any moment, has clearly lost a step or 2 or 3, has a fatter contract (In dollar amounts) and is showing a bit of an attitude.

I personally don't want either of them. However, I think you can get some value in return for Francis and the best thing to do with Marbury, I think, is to just buy him out. Neither of them have much of a future here, unless you see Isiah in 5 years, which wont happen. He'll be gone by Christmas.

Yeah, Francis is the only player that can really be traded in any deal that does not set us back five years. Nobody is taking Marbury. We could probably do a Francis/Rose for Webber deal right now b/c it looks like Webber is asking out of Philly and no one but the Knicks would take on his contract. Watching the games it does look like Francis is fitting in better than Marbury. It is like Marbury does not know how to play unless it is a pick and roll play or a drive to the basket. The guy needs to get his fundamentals together. All this being said, IT needs to stand pat and wait for a good deal. This team is 1 or 2 good trades away from being a solid squad.

Trust the Process

I think you guys are too reactionary to the games. When Marbury plays well within the offense and francis stinks it up, you never remember francis playing well within the offense. And the opposite is true after the las game. They are both the same player and some nights Francis will bring the "perfect" and give the team everything they need and other nites it will be marbury. They both need to go but since francis is the easier to move, he should go now.

I think Francis is the least of our problems on this team. If anything he can be a solution. He seams like he is one of few players that actually know's how to run Isiah's offense. He knows how to draw fouls on our opponents. He actually listens to other players and encourages them. Like when Frye was playing bad he was the one that said to Frye," We need you tonight." People keep on saying he is a cancer I have yet to see that on this team. Let me add that when Francis makes a mistake on the court he is the first to admit he has made a mistake instead of blaming the other players. Francis is also a rebounding machine. This is a key asset because his rebounding leds to easy buckets on the other side of the court.

The sad thing is Isiah actually wanted to bench this guy. Another thing is ridiculous is, Isiah would have probably never have put Francis back into the game early if Marbury was not in foul trouble.

A lot of people do react to much to single games but I am personally talking about the whole season. Steph might have played well within the offense for a total of 1 game so far where as with Francis I like what he does on the court every time he's out there. Which as been inconsistently and not enough!

You have to look at this from Francis's point of view. He knows Isiah and Marbury are boys(neighbors), so he just came here to try and fit in, he plays sporadic minutes, gets injured, then gets benched and this isn't even talking about last years episode. If this happens to Marbury he walks away from the team.
Francis does so many more little things out on the court than Steph it's not even funny. The biggest thing is his attitude and demeanor on the court! Its positive! He won't roll is eyes or drop his shoulders if you miss an open J!

Marbury's body language effects this team more than people think!
Think about it. If you made a mistake on the court and you look over and see your supposed captain shaking his head like he is disgusted with you how's it gonna make you feel? That's what Steph does!

Quite frankly I feel sorry for the guy cause he must have some internal issues but he is a cancer to this team and needs to be gone! Isiah needs to let go of the ego for a minute, realize he made a mistake with Steph, turn the pg duties over to Stevie and were headed in the right direction!

I have supported Marbury long enough and held out hoping it would work but times up!!!

BigC - excellent points on Francis being a total professional in his time with the Knicks.

This season Francis has shown the ability to be a positive spark while some insist on repeating comments about him being a "cancer" as if they were ever in an NBA locker room. EVER.

I like how Steve has carried himself and not provided a single negative line of copy for a writer to eagerly spread in the papers.

That is no small task in New York

I know this has become a forum to express your Marbury hate, but let me lay this one one you...I am happy to see Marbs trying to fit his game with the other offensive minded players in the staring lineup...He must be commended for trying to get everyone involved and get people touches..As a result of this play we have seen flashes from Curry, Frye, Stevie and certainly from Q...We all know there isn't enough balls on the court for these guys..But somehow Marbs gets a knock for playing within the team's offense...The Knicks lost that last game with Marbs being aggressive and not many others getting enough shots...he recognized this and curtailed his offense the following game...he played well and under control but the haters won't see that...Thats ok..

The name of the game now is growth...We need Frye to continue to gain confidence in the post as he has shown the last couple of games...We need Curry to continue to good play finding different ways of getting to the rim outside of bowling over players...We need Curry, Frye and Q to find balance in this offense...Then, we will see Marbs asserting himself more into the offense...But for now guys please be patient...We have a core of guys that can make it interesting....Lee is playing stellar ball right now...Might have been in garbage mins and against their third string but he put up nice numbers last night...Nate has been stellar as well coming off the bench...Craw has shown flashes...Give it some time...Stop the hate and watch the games, thats all I ask, then give me an honest assessment in February...

holfreash - are you suggesting a ceasefire on bashing the favorite and standard targets on the Knicks?

Are you suggesting people closely watch one game at a time for incremental growth and not simply wines and losses?

Are you suggesting letting go of personal bias, opinion based on second-hand assumption or wanting the Knicks to fail?

nah

not for nothing dude, but are we watching the same games this year? Marbury "curtailing his game for the sake of others" is not what i've been seeing... i just don't think he's been playing at all... if u notice, everytime he's OFF the floor is when this team looks its best... everytime Marbury is on the floor i see a noticeable dropoff in the energy level & the offense no longer flows the way it does when Jamal, Nate & sometimes Francis are running the show... Marbury tried to be his "old self" the other night & he still looked horrible, missing wide open shot attempts & destroying any kind of continuity on offense whatsoever... i never thought he'd EVER look this bad, no matter how much he's been "sacrificing" of himself for the good of the team... he just does not look to be meshing at all w/the rest of his teammates... it's sad that Isiah's banked his entire tenure as Knicks' GM on this guy.

eh, he's not savior for this Knicks' franchise... the sooner Isiah realizes the kids need to be featured on this team over the veterans the better imo.

You can still feature the kids with Francis running the team. Mardy Collins does not need to be our featured PG right now or probably ever and Nate is a 2 guard.
Point here is this team is better off with Francis running the show than Marbury.
Pay attention to how this team plays when Francis is on the court WITHOUT Marbury and it's amazing.
Something happens! I can't explain it! But everyone's attitude completely changes and the energy picks up!

This is how I can best explain Steph:

Your at a party and everyone is having a blast! Your having the time of your life. It's a big party at your crib of about 50 people, great music, beautiful women, etc etc... someone knocks on the door. They come in with their head down, shoulders drooped, sad look on their face, go over too the couch and sits down. He starts looking around shaking his head and rolling his guys. So the 5 hottest women in the party see this guy sitting on the couch pouting when everyone else is having a blast and they decide they don't want to be around anymore so they decide to leave the party and take all the alcohol, the dj, and every other female with them. Your good time is ruined!

The guy on the couch is Stephon Marbury
