At the point guard position, we have not one but TWO former all-stars where
we don't have any all-star caliber players at any other position.
While I agree it would be nice to have a pass-first point guard, I think we
would be better off getting RID of a point guard and getting:
1. a tough beast upfront that can play D and grab rebounds and put backs (I know David
Lee is doing a good job, but somebody in the pivot that could make people regret
treading in the paint -- a Mutombo or Alonzo type)
2. a consistent outside shooter
3. a GM that has a plan and that doesn't get taken to the cleaners on every trade.
i think marbury and francis are being totally EXPOSED for NOT being point guards.
They may not be the point guard you want, but they have always played the point guard
position for many years in this league.
