I find it very ironic that so many people chose PG as a high priority need.
At the point guard position, we have not one but TWO former all-stars where
we don't have any all-star caliber players at any other position.
While I agree it would be nice to have a pass-first point guard, I think we
would be better off getting RID of a point guard and getting:

1. a tough beast upfront that can play D and grab rebounds and put backs (I know David
Lee is doing a good job, but somebody in the pivot that could make people regret
treading in the paint -- a Mutombo or Alonzo type)
2. a consistent outside shooter
3. a GM that has a plan and that doesn't get taken to the cleaners on every trade.

i think marbury and francis are being totally EXPOSED for NOT being point guards.

1. backcourt defenders

team defense is hard when the opposing teams guards have an e-z- pass into the paint.

tell me if this sounds all too familiar

opposing team's guard penetrates. someone is forced to rotate to the penetrator.

penetrator dishes to a big for an easy layup or to someone else for an open jumper.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I think this is a really interesting thread, but one question: isn't Jared Jeffries supposed to fill our "frontcourt defender" need? If so, I wouldn't rank that as high as some here have.

That said...

1 - PG
2 - Backcourt D
3 - Coach
4 - Jumpshooter (Q's been good this year)
5 - Frontcourt D

I guess it will depend if JJ steps in a PF or SF. I think he will be at SF with Q sliding to the SG spot. Francis will tell the media AGAIN how he loves reduced minutes and coming off the bench. With that, does JJ have the wherewithal to cover the mistakes of Curry/Frye while defending other SFs who normally start on the outside? Maybe.

They may not be the point guard you want, but they have always played the point guard
position for many years in this league.

that's why both have never won and both get traded repeatedly.

in terms of needs. miracle might be better as the first option.
