A lot to rant about RealGM:
A season ago I was contacted about doing the blog at RealGM. I was promised press passes to some Knick games, and other perks. Then they wrote me back saying they couldn't offer me anything. I did it anyway, but after a year stopped because I wasn't getting anything back from them. IIRC the guy that replaced me, bashed me on the message board saying that RealGM would now be getting "real" analysis on a regular basis. The last blog was written on December 17, 2005.
And a lot of people think they can write & blog, but it actually takes a lot of time & effort to publish an article. Check this begining to a RealGM article:
"The moods in both the Knicks and Cavaliers locker rooms accurately matched what just transpired on the floor on a night when the soul of Reggie Miller took the body of Damon Jones – for a half."
I dare anyone to diagram it (hint there are 3 verbs). That's the main (topic) sentence, and of course, the moods in the locker rooms weren't described until 4 paragraphs later (which in a RealGM article is just 4 sentences later).
Anyway, I had to
ban myself from RealGM. It's one of those places that you see so much false knowledge that you feel compulsed to write back. But in the end you just wonder why you bothered with someone whose response to all of your comebacks is to call you a "hater". RealGM's Knick board is so optimistic, it was the only place you could go that had people defending Scott Layden *after* he was fired.
Did you know that they don't keep anything longer than a year due to "space issues"? I had about 5 quotes saved from RealGM posts about Jerome James at the time of his signing. I planned on doing a followup a year later, but low & behold they're gone! Here's one for a good chuckle, just to show you how unrealistic that board is: "Certainly James is as good as Nazr and Kurt Thomas."
