Lee and Balkman should teach Curry how to board.

The team needs more D in the starting lineup. They are all poor defensive players in the staring unit except for maybe Q. I say remove Curry and start James. He rebounds and intimidates. If he is playing bad, take him out. But I am getting so tired of Curry looking like he just learned how to play basketball.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

This is the only box out Curry understands.

The problem is that Curry doesn't care. He just doesn't.

I really can't say with any level of certainty what it is that causes Curry's problems on the court, but it does cause one to wonder.

In general, my knee-jerk reaction is to feel a lot of frustration with his inconsistent and seemingly "what are you doing?" kind of play, but I also want to not go too overboard. However, is it possible that he really won't turn out to be as good as some hope? Sure.

big...slow...and lazy.

he is VERY slow to react to anything. when some guys get a rebound, they go right back up with the shot - like dwight howard or to a lesser extent, david lee. but when curry gets the ball down low, he has to bring it down to his knees to get started. he can't just react and jump right back up with the ball over his head.

when the ball hits off the rim, he can't jump to it fast enough to get the rebound. his reaction times are some of the worst i've seen in this league.

right now, he gets a rebound if the balls falls right into his hands and he scores only when he gets an easy set-up for a dunk. outside of that, anything that requires a move or thinking, he's toast.

DJ, it may look to us like that's it, but in my book there is really no such thing as "lazy." Lazy what it appears to be but really "laziness" is usually something else. I'm sure this statement won't be popular but it's my point of view.

It does seem that he is slow to react to things, but isn't that odd since a lot of the hoopla about Curry is that he is supposed to be so athletic for his size? It's probably a case of motivation, if I had to guess, and personality. Some people are just not as driven as others to be "achievers." Is that Eddy?

The evidence is looking more like that may be the case, although maturity and discipline can come slower for some more more than others, so if it is an issue of motivation what can one do to change that (other than post the obligatory donught or hamburger to bang another cliched point across)?

Can we live with him as improving with these concerns just slightly or not? I cannot say that I am not concerned, because I am and hoped for more than what we are seeing now. Everyone said that "This is the year Eddy proves himself" yet after a hot start in the first couple of games he has fallen right back into his inconsistent habits. Maybe it's a confidence thing...who knows...but right now his play is not what most fans had to have hoped for.

let's say you're kid that's big. and you play basketball b/c you're big. but inherently, you're just a nice, funny big kid that like to have fun. not particularly motivated tho. so you play bball and you find that you're big enough and good enough to get drafted and become a millionaire. so now, at the age of 18, you're now getting paid more than anything else you could probably do just to play a game. so you continue to just play without any real incentive to get better. hey, i'm getting more money that i ever thought i could imagine so who cares? now, it's your contract year. and your agent starts telling you, hey man, you can get a big time deal here if you just get in shape for a year and show you care. i'm sure his family was telling him this also. so he loses a ton of weight (amid ephedra rumors) and plays hard for one season before his heart ailment comes to light. so at this point, chicago decides to only give him a portion of what he's really looking for until isiah shows up with dolan's checkbook. so now, you get a $60 mil deal for basically just playing bball the same way you've always done without putting in all the hard work to get better. basically coasting to the big contract. now you're 23 with guaranteed money. you feel like you maybe let isiah down so you suck it up and try to do him right...but ultimately, that's not your ineherent nature. you're inherent nature is to coast. and you got more money than you can ever hope for so what is the true incentive to change other than personal drive...of which you really don't have any?

that's where eddy is right now.

so how does one change that? it is of my personal experience that a change this dramatic can only occur after a life changing event. a death, a birth, or something of similar magnitude. until then, eddy has known nothing else than to just pretty much coast. he has his money already so there's no motivation there. so until something big happens to "change" him, i think we're going to see eddy behave in the same manner as he's done for his entire career and probably his entire life to date.

Great post DJ, I think you hit the nail right on the head with Eddy and his mental state.

how about hiring Oak to teach this guy how to box out? obviously Mark Aguirre's not getting the message across to him.
