fish, c'mon man, it doesn;t have to be that cut and dry. This is the NBA and MANY times teams on back 2 backs come out flat. That's just reality. It doesn't have to be about making excuses, but looking at how the team develops over the season.

Of course I hope so Earl, but like tomverve suggested in the "Isiah swan song" thread, we probably want to be careful of getting too excited with the last two wins. As someone who DEEPLY wants to believe that this team can start to turn things around it is important for us to not get too disappointed with a loss tonight or other signs of inconsistency.

come on man, that's what makes being a fan so fun. this isn't like thinking you have a job only for it to fall through. or thinking you just won the lotto but read the #'s wrong. this is about the knicks. getting high or low on an each game basis makes it much more fun. you can worry about tempering emotions for the more serious stuff. it's just bball. so if you want to get pumped up, then get pumped up. and if they dissapoint, i mean really, how dissapointed does one really get about bball? when it comes to emotions and this team...LET IT RIDE!!!

DJ, I think it's ok to get pumped about one's team, but I just don't see being either on one extreme or the other to necessarily be the only choice one has to take as a fan, and from my observations it is this over-investment of one's emotions in a team that leads to the kind of either blind dismissal of realities or staunch attacks on players, etc. that I have a personal aversion to. I certainly have STRONG HOPES that the Knicks come out and win tonight, but I know that my feelings of hope cannot always coincide with reality.

Is my life going to be over if the Knicks loose? Naw, and I can accept the losing, somewhat, as a fan if I maintain a perspective that it's rarely about one game and about the ride and experience for the most part. My point was more about the statments that "it's all about this game" comments that seems to lead one to suddenly use it as evidence of why we have to dismiss the last two games entirely, than getting pumped or disappointed. Sure, it would be great to see the team win, and I will be unhappy as a fan if we lose, but does this one game have to be THE "no excuse" game? In my view...no.

i hear you man. but don't those "staunch" attacks make this board so much more lively?

outside of posting pics of bonn and making fun of each other, the rabid diatribe by all the extermists make this board go. that's all i'm sayin'.

i'm going to be at the game hoping we come out and play awesome and blitz boston out of the water. there's nothing more fun than a loud, rabid msg. but if they play like crap, you best believe i'm gonna be on here ripping new a-holes to those that i feel deserve it :)

As Stephon and parters leave to enjoy the fruits of defensive hard work and potentially turn the boos to throaty cheers i The Garden, what would a three game win streak mean to the psyche of the team?

Tomorrow night in the Garden will djsu stand and cheer again?

Game Face people

Give me the 18, 7, a floor general, and a good defender Stephon Marbury over the 20 and 8 Starbury anyday.

What about a 12/5 (Marbury's #s) floor general, good defender over a 20/8 Starbury?

If Marbury is only going to give me 12/5, I would really think he has to give me something else.

12 and 5 is Mo Williams(who averages 5 boards per game), Rafer Alston(Alston gives 2 steals), Tyronn Lue(Actually averages 14.6 per and isn't a starter in Atlanta) territory. And I think Steph is way too important to this team to give us limited numbers like that.

But if it does result in wins, I won't argue with it.

Stephon Marbury better give us a helluva lot better than 12 & 5 for the money he's making (unless he suddenly transforms himself into an All NBA defender overnight)

i like how he's playing less selfishly, but there comes a time in most games where he has to step up & take over when the offense becomes stagnant (w/the exception of the 2 recent blowouts when everyone was clicking from the getgo)... he has yet to do that this season w/any consistency... this team needs alot more from Marbury on both sides of the ball, & so far they haven't gotten it imo.

Beating the Bulls at home and away would be great wins for this young team. I know the players realize that if Chicago finishes with a better record, they will take our pick. I am interested in seeing how these guys respond. Are they going to let Chicago come into the Garden and win? Or, are they going to not only beat these guys in our house but also take the game in Chicago. If the Knicks can win both games, then I know we have some players that know how to step up and play when a little pressure is on, which is what is needed if this team is to become a contender. This next week could change this whole season in terms of the team's confidence.
